Please return Pets to the way they were

I was gone and came back, more for friends than the game. As a BM hunter I still hate the way pets are used. It used to make sense that you would go and tame a pet because it had certain abilities, spider/ web, Rhino/ knock back, scale spider/ web wrap, Bat/ sonic stun, jackal/ ankle bite, etc, etc. This pets give you buff or the lack or difference between pets other than the pet spec make them boring it just a skin over a model and meaningless there is no real reason you would go and hunt down a specific pet anymore. Please take a look at giving pets some real meaning again.

I liked it better when you could choose which spec your pet was, like tenacity, ferocity or cunning. That way I could use whatever pet I wanted. Wish they would bring that back

I’d rather be able to choose whichever pet I think looks best, rather than be forced into specific types of pets because of their abilities. In BfA, BM was locked into Spirit Beast in raids and Clefthoof while soloing, and MM and SV were locked into a Ray or Bat if they needed lust, and a Stag or Crane if they didn’t, because those brought the purge.

My poor spectral wolf, as well as near on a dozen pets that match my transmog, are stuck warming the bench in my stable, while I’m stuck running around with a purple Spirit Beast with an orange transmog.

Pets don’t need to have mechanical depth behind their choice. You define the depth yourself. Let me choose my pet for aesthetics, and then select the pet spec and abilities to suit the content I’m running.

This is literally the same argument as behind transmog. Used to be, you sought out weapons based on stats and potentially secondary effects, and it didn’t matter how dinky or ridiculous that weapon looked. Same for armor, hence the paladins in Classic running around in cloth armor looking like priests. They added transmog specifically to let players isolate what their characters look like from selecting gear for its stats and bonuses.

Let me do the same with my pet, for the exact same reasons.
