I’m pretty sure you can find a phone plan for a lot cheaper then 200$ a month. Shop around.

Unfortunately though, CS did not make this game change decision, general forum would be better for feedback like this.

No one can really point in the TOU where it states it specifically, but it should mention somewhere that game play may change.

I recommend moving your thread to General Discussion so it can be received as feedback. Feedback posted on the Customer Support forum very rarely gets passed along.

Edit your thread by clicking the pencil icon, then from the drop-down menu you should be able to find “General Discussion”.

If your bill is $200 a month, then you are getting massively ripped off. I pay $60 and that is unlimited text and data, as well as Prime.

If you have issues with the policy about VOIP, you would need to take that up with the FCC since they set the rules that companies have to follow in those regards.

The MMO charges a fee and shouldn’t require outside purchases. Like I said, I have a phone with a small outfit called Google. I receive calls on it all over the world from companies with far greater security risks than Blizz. It’s simply a ridiculous policy in my view, not just for fairness but it’s causing me real time lost in game that I’m paying for. I will move it to general forums though, thanks.

WoW has always required some sort of outside purchases to play.
At a minimum, you need to pay for an internet connection and a computer with minimal technical specs.

Requiring something that 99% of the population already has in order to improve the quality of life within the game while still allowing access to 99.9% of the game features is hardly oppression.

We need the Internet to play WoW, same as when I signed up in 2003. We didn’t then and never have needed a major US phone carrier to play a PC game. This is about paying full price for less than the full product. Not sure why the replies focus on me (who HAS a US phone number) and not the obvious problem that boosters can still edit titles and real players can’t.

And as I said, I have a US phone number. I can be reached and verified on it right now by thousands of major companies, but not AB.

Things can, and often will, change.

Sadly, it seems it’s a case of damned if they do, damned if they don’t when it comes to Blizzard fighting bots/cheaters etc…

Be sure to thank the cheaters and scammers for any changes like this that Blizzard makes.

I accept the new verification methods even though I think it’s a bad change, they just don’t accept mine. At the very least they should accept VOIP or ask for a photo of an ID if they have to go farther. The authenticator + verified email is more than enough. I can’t think of another company that would limit your activity just because you don’t have SMS, especially after years of subs and box prices. It also is a detriment to the overall community because people simply can’t connect to the right groups as quickly.

They had to field too many customer service calls because people who lost their phone would lose their Authenticators. So many requests like that prompted them to “require” the SMS to edit groups, as an incentive. Because you can use SMS to recover from losing your Authenticator.

It was a business decision. Less CS requests the less CS employees they need to pay.

Take an important feature of daily gameplay and turn it into an incentive…nice.

You can get tracfone for pretty cheap, and it adds 2-factor security to your account. You don’t need to have it to play. Just to edit titles. And I’m pretty sure you can run the auth app through Bluestacks or something similar as well.

Yeah I know I could get a cheap plan or phone, the thing is we just shouldn’t have to. Theyre pushing their cost onto us when we are paying the sub + box price. They need to figure out something else because it’s simply wrong.

Cry more. I, frankly, am loving that LFG is actually useable now, instead of being 90% bots spamming carry sales.

The thing is, you can make a group and play the game without getting the authenticator. No one is forcing anything on you.

As insightful as this is, I paid for a sub before they made the change. I was fully authenticated, but after the change, my gameplay became much more frustrating while the boosters still exist. Two methods of authentication are more than enough, and I’ve proposed reasonable solutions that other companies do. I’m not the only one with this problem, so I’m going to bring it up. No one is forcing you to participate.

Mine’s $90 and I have free Hulu, Disney+, and infinite data and mobile hotspot.

I dont have the authenticator. Too much of a hassle.

Can you show me where in the EULA it says we have to wait before posting too many messages in general chat? Or where in the EULA it says we can only run ten instances in an hour?

Let’s not act pedantic. You know full well that’s not how the EULA works.

The custom title does not make or break your group. Invite whoever you want.

I pay $49. Not sure where you are getting $200. And you don’t need good service. Just service.
