I have a 380 and now also a 385 staff from world quests ect. WHO EVEN USES THESE. The shield is mandatory. Please just remove this trash or stop giving it for 90% of my weapon quest rewards.

And why is the shield mandatory?
For pvp you can argue it is, but for any other content in the world. It isn’t. Some believe that the Earth ele gets stats from the shield… that is false. So… why is it trash again?
A shield is almost worse in pve since you need to get 2 rng drops to complete your weapon set. Oh… how fun rng can be at times giving you a 400 shield but you are stuck with a 350 weapon.
Shaman use staves… They used them long ago in the time before legion. The argument of… I don’t like it because … it looks different…? Clashes with your xmog ? … I really don’t know what half this arguement is about anymore… Is creativity dead as well in this game? Make that staff work for you. You can transmog your staff to look like a sweet flaming 2H axe. Or roll around with Sulfuras like the days of old.
If you haven’t got a 2H hammer from a wq yet… then I don’t think you know the true meaning of trash drops.

I don’t think shields drop in this game anymore.
I’ll take a single slot chance at ideal stats over RNGesus trying to get ideal stats on two different slots.
Shields only matter if you PVP at high end or you ninja level RP in wow. Not really that big of deal.
I got a new shiny staff I got today.
Also got the worthless crown.

i absolutely hate being stuck with main hand and sheild. if i had a choice id be using a 2 hander or offhand but sadly we can “coin” or loot offhands. there is no real readon why we are stuck with sheilds besides lore but other then that is jusy silly. or maybe give us an option to transmog sheilds to offhands then id be slightly less unhappy being stuck with one. i was actually rolling with a 2 hander till i got a shield in one of my boxes.
preach to the shammies in the back row. i hate using sheilds personally id rather have the choice to “loot” offhands but they dont show up in our loot logs. i would have been happy if i could have stayed with a staff till i got a 400 main hand and sheild
they still do. 2 from the uldir and 1 (i think) from the new one (first boss btw) and plenty from M+
The int on staves is almost always better than the one hand/shield combo when ilvl is the same.
They look better on my poor little dwarf (because shields on her are too big and hide her completely in many cases).
Staves are fine. If you hate them, just RNG grind till you get a shield/one-hand you like.
Shields give armor. Armor reduces raid wide physical damage.

The difference in primary stat is negligible at best! A ilvl350 Main Hand/ Offhand gives 1052int and 383stam and a stave has 1054int and 383stam.
The biggest problem is that getting the perfect ilvl and stats on a stave is a lot harder. Where’s as a main hand/offhand combo allows greater flexibility over the secondary stats

I dont think I quit agree with this. Getting a Crit/Versatility, Crit/Haste, Versatility/Haste staff would be a lot easier than one of these combos for BOTH MH and OH. My bags were full of Mastery shields where it is Ele’s worst stat.
I prefer the aesthetic of 1h/shield personally but nothing wrong with staves.
I mean, yeah, I see them in the loot tables.

Agreed. Our class is designed around having the extra armor from the shield - not wearing one is a clear disadvantage (especially in pvp)

Just got a 400 staff… RIP…
Two shields drop from the new raid – first boss, and I believe another from the Blockade.
They do indeed drop – wearing one of them now.
As fast as the Staves argument, I think the only thing that makes a shield necessary would be for PvP.
If you’re not getting hit a lot, a staff will do just fine. The stats are pretty even between 2h and 1h/shield.
It world be nice if we had our choice more often though. Legion kind of beat it into everyone’s head that we used a shield thanks to the Ra’den fist, and most shield tmogs are pretty ugly.
