Please remove "Season" from SoD

Blizzard you need to decide if SoD has a future… the uncertainty is the biggest reason why I believe SOD isnt the #1 most popular version of WoW.

If you plan to close the server and delete all our characters say so. If the plan is to keep it going then please say so and drop the season in the name as that implies it will come to end like all seasons do

They literally already said they are not doing that… It has been asked multiple times there are multiple posts about it. They aren’t gonna change the name when everyone already knows it as SoD.

Cant read the blue post which has already confirmed SOD isn’t going anywhere?

There is none. Just that they won’t delete the servers. They have never come out and said they plan to continue developing content for it.

I agree somewhat that the theme of Discovery needs to stay. Explorer-types, unite!

The “Seasonality” of content though needs to exist as a reset and a fresh slate for re-discovering the game world. Explorers are the most expensive to develop content around–content is consumed once before the exploration/mapping is complete. This means FRESH content needs regularly developed to maintain this type of player. Versus your achievers, killers, socializers, which can just be given a counter that increments over time without any new depth of content…

Further, the idea of seasons meshes a little too well with SDLC frameworks and gives us something to work on now and look forward to in the future. It is a great creator framework even if the player framework is a little coerced.

That is, the idea of “season” needs to be reframed not removed.

The blue post is right on the top. I swear you people have awareness and IQ equivalent to that of a potato

“You did read that last part correctly! We have more content coming after the launch of Phase 7 in Season of Discovery. As a little tease and parting gift, we’ll just leave this here for you…”

There are quite a few reasons it’s not the “#1 most popular version of WoW” and this is as far down the list as possible

No. It is because Blizzard got the idea of SoD 100% from Ascension WoW but didn’t copy that version entirely. Blizzard knows that version exists. They could have shut it down months ago but chose not too probably to watch and find out what players like in alternate versions of the game.

Will probably be like MoP Remix, you had full epics and legos and all gemmed and enchanted gear, then log in one day as soon as MoP Remix is over into a bunch of low level super underpowered green gear with no gems or enchants and reset talent trees. our SoD toons will probably have a similar fate. Suck to be forced into full greens as a level 60 in era. Being able to keep our gear would be nice.

And yea this is a season. It will end. But Blizzard never said they were deleting everything after it ended. You keep your toons and your SoD specific mounts.

OMG I loved wow Ascension for the time I played it. I just couldn’t get any friends to play with me, sadly.

The whole “classless” design was so interesting. I hated how they implemented the “enchants” when I played, but still a neat idea.

If Blizz finds any logs to any private server from your PC then they can legally close your account right then and there. And yes I truly don’t think that they keep it open because they like the server. They know it exists, we all do, it gets advertised quite a bit now, they even advertise on some of the same areas that Blizzard is. Blizz likely keeps it open to monitor it and to see what people are liking so much about it. Pretty certain that as soon as Blizzard has all the info they need about it, they will shut it down.

The time spent complaining and dooming here could of been spent reading what the devs said they plan to do with sod…dozens of times already. Hope you have a great day Avenge :people_hugging:

Same group of devs who said they would never give us Classic in the first place, same group of devs who said no changes when they did decide to release it.

I’m not. I have kept saying SoD is going to end. I have said it is even in the name, SEASON. I bet you are one of those people who thought SoM was going to last forever too just like you seem to think SoD is going to.

By their words EXACTLY "There will 100% be a place where characters can migrate ONCE THE SEASON ENDS From a WoW dev posted word for word and you can find that part on Wowhad. So yes, SoD does have an end date to it. You really think it was going to last forever?

They pretty much have said THEY DONT KNOW exactly what they are going to do. That is why I said what I think they are going to do. So kinda looks like I was the one who actually read what the devs said and you didn’t. Based on how what I have been saying this entire time has remained consistent but all you had to say was that I was wrong.

Maybe you’re the one who needs to read what they devs have said, as I have always said SoD will have an end date. And how they said they may or may not remove all our runes.

I keep saying that it will have an end date. You all keep saying I am wrong and then tell me that I am the one who needs to read up on this when it is very clearly me who knows what is happening and not you people.

By your logic every game has an end date. Even retail. I don’t know why you writing such long paragraphs after blue post has confirmed they will continue to support SOD beyond phase 7. Either continue to play it or just go away. Enough with negative nancies and classic salty andys on SOD forums because no one wants to play era.

So where’s is the post saying they will continue development after phase 7 and beyond. All I’m saying is the servers will stay but eventually the will stop making new content for the game

Sight its right there in the post. What do you want? A road map till 2030?

No? But that’s not what people are asking. People are asking if sod will be the new “classic +” and have new content releases akin to retail and that’s not the case. There is absolutely an end date for sod whether they have that date set it time yet or not. Eventually the servers will be a place for the characters to sit and not have anything new to do.

There’s this weird idea floating around that sod will magically turn into “wow 2” or “classic +” when they have said multiple times that sod has a definite end to it.

No. By my logic I am going DIRECTLY off of what Blizzard has said and that is that SoD is going to END and that they already have a plan for the END. Blizzard has also stated that SoD is not Classic+.

You people very clearly never played MoP Remix if not a single one of you has gotten a single comparison I have said about our toons from that vs our SoD toons. You honestly think that healing mages and warlock tanks are coming into era from SoD? You’re silly. As it stands. I am pretty much the only one here who says SoD is ending. i also said the same exact thing about SoM that SoM was going to end and you all raged at me then too and said it wouldn’t.

Its either one of the following Scenarios.
-SoD continues to expand, the term Season would be deceptive in this case and it effectively becomes C+

-New server types for C+ are introduced allowing us to copy/paste characters from here to there and continue growth.

-P8 comes out and that wraps it but C+ arrives in a few years.

Personally a lot of us are attached to our characters and I imagine C+ fresh new server type requiring a lot of resources so im leaning to the first 2. But wont rule out the 3rd.

If I have a bias i just want SoD to evolve into C+ and we keep going.

I agree. Let’s rename it to something else.

Naming contest anyone?

I’ll go first.

“Captivating Classic”

i want a sod era realm and then a fresh season with new content they can just add to the sod era realm after every new seasonal content ends
