People who dig their heels in for heirlooms and an Easier Leveling experience don’t want to play WoW It’s that simple!
They want to look pretty in their transmog and sit idle in SW or Org
That’s it. You think these guys push the upper echelon of content? hell no. These are basically infants who want to live in a power fantasy and get destroyed in every facet of the game since they’ve never been challenged once in their lives.
They’re not equal to greens. They increase your xp significantly. I leveled my pally day before last. From 113-120 in 2 hours using heirlooms, dark moon fair buff, and xp potions. It went super fast!
It’s a fine response. Until the one alt I’m leveling now, I’ve never EVER used heirlooms on a character – even though I both have some and have VERY EASY access to more. For the alt I’m working on now, I would like to hurry leveling a little. Most of the time I am not interested in hurrying to level.
… … wait for it … …
If I’m not hurrying to level, I DON’T WEAR HEIRLOOMS.
Because nobody has ever taken the path of least resistance.
Heirlooms make leveling easy don’t wear them.
Mobs don’t hit hard enough don’t wear gear.
Games aren’t supposed to be drool in a cup easy but I suppose for you that’s a bonus since yer trash and want to drag everyone down to your level. Well the popularity of Classic has instilled some long awaited virtue back into WoW with Shadowlands. The consensus is that most people like feeling rewarded for their efforts.
No, I want to be max level asap. I’ve been through all the leveling before so many times. As a veteran I just want to be max level already, and to hell if I’m spending $60 to do that.
Have you leveled a character recently? I was in Dazaralor with my DH and I had to switch to tanking spec to make progress on my quests. Mobs were hitting too hard and I kept dying otherwise. Heirlooms weren’t helping that much, believe me.
The leveling experience… That we’ve done a MILLION TIMES! And if they removed them now, I better get my gold back.
The whole point of Heirlooms is for veterans, they have no advantage over anything, not anymore thankfully but I don’t want my well earned bonuses to be gone because someone thinks they ruin the leveling experience. Like, sorry but the true leveling experience is starting a character over just for the fun of it. Whether it is with friends, solo, or trying something new. Besides, if you don’t like it, then good, don’t use heirlooms but don’t take it away from someone who much preferred to blaze through and be back at 120 because we rather not pay money to get there or wait a month getting back where our mains and other leveled alts are at.
I’m trying to understand what you’re saying. But I don’t have a lot of time to just be leveling 50 alts. It’s tough enough trying to play 2 characters. And I’ve done all the old content leveling before many times in the past years. Leveling now is just a waste of time for me.
Yeah, sarcasm sure flew over your head there… A big wooosh.
Jokes aside… I’ve done my fair amount of leveling and I’m not gonna casually level. I’ve done every zone possible, leveled every character I’ve enjoyed playing since Cataclysm, earned a good majority of Tmogs within Leather, mail, and plate, and still working on Cloth. All because each time I start a new character these days are intention to hunt some armor or weapons I do not have in collection.
That’s just a example of how much I’ve already leveled and rather just be at 120 than lazing around. I dunno what makes you think heirlooms is turning a few us of unfriendly. I even make a new character because a friend wants to do something new on a new character. I doubt that’s unfriendly… If I don’t want to level a new character, I use my existing one, party sync and I can continue going up at my friend’s pace. If that’s unfriendly, then my god, I should throw you dictionaries in multiple languages.
This has been a really fun thread to watch. I hadn’t considered upon writing the post that there wasn’t a very enjoyable leveling experience to begin with which was made very clear by many of these comments. Nobody actually enjoys or cares about leveling in current WoW. Everyone is steamrolling as fast as they can to max level because it’s not about the journey, right? Right, because there is no journey to be had. Seems like Shadowlands might change that. I’m all for soaring through the content when it sucks or we’ve simply been through it a million times but I feel like the leveling experience is a huge part of what makes MMORPGs appealing and that’s been gone in WoW since like… Cata? Maybe we’ll see an mmo some day where the leveling experience is so different every time that we’ll always find a way to enjoy it. I think the players were what did that in the past. The game was just the platform for it.
Part of what made the game fun was the social aspect which has definitely deteriorated in current WoW. No more spending 10 hours leveling in a zone and getting to know other people on server. You’ll almost never see anyone leveling out in the world. Now with crossrealm, at max level you’re almost always surrounded by random people you’ve never seen before and may never see again. Nobody cares. It’s like being in an actual city.
So, what I’m realizing is the general experience of this game is just not good anymore. Removing heirlooms obviously won’t change that. That would be like scooping a spoon full of water out of a bucket.
If that’s the case, why are you so worried about them? Shrug and walk away and continue on in your more challenging content. How does it effect you?
The point is, heirlooms have no effect on those who don’t want to use them. You just… don’t use them. Then you can level however you want. I have eight heirloom weapons and four heirloom trinkets which no longer drop in game. They’ve never been used except the weapons for transmog. I have several other heirlooms and piles more available to me. They sit in my heirloom tab for the most part completely unused… and that has no effect on anyone other than me. It doesn’t effect you or him or her or them.
What baffles me are the people who scream and cry about how they want to play a certain way and everyone else should be forced to play like them. As you’re doing, the entire argument is frequently nothing but baseless insults and degradation thrown at anyone who doesn’t want to walk their same path. The bottom line is nothing is stopping you from doing exactly what you claim you like to do. So go do it and let others do what they want to do. You have no effect on each other.
This is not a problem of the people who use heirlooms… If you’re this bent out of shape over something you do not have to use, it’s a YOU problem.
WRONG. I definitely enjoy the quest leveling. That’s how I’m leveling my fox right now, even though it’s slower than just spamming dungeons. I find I don’t bond to my characters if I don’t quest with them and I like that sentimental bond. It’s part of the reason I play. I am someone who possesses heirlooms and until this alt has never used them because I want to take the smell the roses approach.
However, I recognize not everyone feels the same way. Or they might need a character quickly. Or whatever the reason doesn’t matter. honestly. Someone else using heirlooms is not forcing ME to play differently from how I want so I really don’t care if other people use them or not. I’m certainly not going to demand their removal simply because I’m disinterested in them.
Once again… You do you.
While I agree with you there was value to that, there is no way to bring back any level of actual server community without actual distinct servers. You can’t bring back distinct servers because it reduces the pool of people to play with to under minimum threshold for players to accomplish things in the game. Join a guild and let a guild be the replacement for server identity and a place to get to know people.
These heirloom threads are so similar to the anti flying threads. People admitting they have zero self control and as such wanting mommy and daddy blizzard to force them, and everyone else by extension, to play the way they want to play. Ugh.
Edit: Dang Swype how does it get words so wrong at times.
Except it doesn’t at all make it unfriendly to new players. New players are getting gear from quests experienced players wear their heirlooms and go as fast as they can if they don’t just flat out buy a boost.
Just curious where is your mythic prog and M+ prog at? Current raiding content in wow is by far the most difficult it has been certainly more difficult than vanilla. Naxx was punishing but honestly a large part of it was because we sucked at playing the game and requirements such as 8 warriors needing 4 piece T3 for 4hmen.
