Heirlooms take away from a pretty substantial part of the leveling experience being equipping new gear and being stronger for it. Instead, you just put on your looms, mog them, and forget about them until 120. Vendor all the gear you find. Any epics or blues you find are worthless unless you can sell them to for the appearance.
Everything you fight dies in seconds because you’re op and you always will be. Remember when it was very possible to be killed if you pulled more than one mob in classic? There’s no danger anymore. You go out into the world and roam the hillside destroying everything that moves without resistance. This used to be something that was only somewhat possible if you super-geared yourself and still mobs would put up some semblance of a fight.
If you think it’s boring then don’t wear them.
I find it fun to feel powerful when I am playing, especially when it means I get to max level faster. I have also spent a lot of gold…
That aint the fault of heirlooms, that is the fault of scaling, and blizz intentionally making mobs weaker to speed up leveling because the true game (of the daily grind) starts at max level…
Heirloom stats were nerfed awhile ago. They’re about on par with normal questing gear, more or less. It’s not much of a difference anymore like it used to be.
Gear doesn’t matter while leveling. It never has and it never will. For evidence of that, go level in Classic. It isn’t exactly hard even if you rely only on quest gear.
Also, heirloom gear is actually a bit worse than quest gear for equal level gear currently. So removing it does nothing except make leveling slower due to not having the exp buff.
Meh, I just wish they would add an heirloom tabard or shirt or something that gives us the same amount of experience boost of having all the gear equipped, that way we can still equip new gear while leveling.
