Facial tattoos where only for females, and were a mark that they get by a maturity ritual.
Cheast, arms, legs and everything else is fine, put as much tattoos options as you wish there, just avoid the face.

Mmm…I mean, I’d sit here and agree with all of that if not for the fact that we also have the other problem involving males joining the priesthood of Elune, which was changed to make it so players of both genders could be priests within Kaldorei culture.
I also think there’s something to be said for understanding that - yes, while women tattooed their faces as a sign of coming of age and choosing a path, males not having some such ritual doesn’t mean they can’t just tattoo their face for the hell of it. There’s nothing saying the tattoos which have been datamined are equivalent to female tattoos involving social understandings and customs. Why can’t Jake the male Night Elf just want some ink on his dome?
I get your point, but this was something really unique for females nelfs. It’s almost like given every heritage armors to every race.
In WC3, Druids of Talons, which are male, had facial tattoos!, personally happy more customisation is coming.

For the same reason that you don’t have a army’s tattoo that only military can get, if you were not part of the army.
Same reason for street gangs tattoos and so on.

You used the army as an example. What if I want a wolf on my shoulder because I dig wolves? I am not of the army, and have no affiliation with them, thus I am not seeking their tattoos. Again, there’s zero stating that male night elves cannot simply tattoo their faces because screw it, why not? They’re not yanking the women’s rituals and saying: “EQUAL OPPORTUNITY!” They’re just getting some ink as an option. Probably a rebellious phase since the whole tree burned and everything.
And that would be tolerable in their society? You don’t know that, also i don’t know that, but if you follow some logic the more safe bet is say that “this only for certain kind of people”.
Sentinels used to be female only too. And druids male only. If that changed, facial tattoos can aswell.
Also, remember people would be really salty if only females could get it. Plus, lore isn’t a huge considered factor for racial customization it seems, seeing as Horde are getting sand troll skins. There’s a skin shown for forest trolls, which a lot of people mistook as datamined confirmed forest trolls. I’d place my bets we get them too but it’s not “confirmed” like the sand troll skins.
Why? Humans are getting makeup and wicked eyeliner. Trolls of both genders are getting wicked tattoos, and skin tones making up all sorts of tribes. Why are we suddenly becoming super culturally specific involving the night elves meanwhile there’s loads of customization options being thrown in for the hell of it.
It’s high time we smash the Matriarchy.

Personal Lore for your Characters > Blizzards FOTM Lore > Lore according to some outdated RTS Game, no matter how awesome you thought it was.
