It seems… fickle. 2 Weeks ago (Or 3?) I wasn’t able to roll on a piece from I think Eranog because “I had a more powerful version of that item” (got it in the great vault) - even though I didn’t have that appearance.
Also, they already announced in 10.0.5 (which is next week) - Tier Pieces will favor people without any Tier for that slot already, so what you experienced isn’t likely to happen again.

Ah if this is taking effect next week then that’s a shame. It’s unfair that those of us who raid higher difficulties will be barred from getting the LFR transmog. I hope Blizzard reconsiders this.

Confirmed. Can no longer even roll on lower tier tokens if you have a higher tier appearance, even if you lack the appearance. I have no idea if this applies to other pieces of gear in it or just tier. But either way this isn’t okay.
I have heroic shoulders from the Catalyst this week, couldn’t roll on the Shoulder Tokens even though I don’t have the LFR appearance.
For the love of god, put Personal Loot back in LFR. This is hell for mog collectors. I’m never going to finish a tier appearance set at this rate.

Guess we have to farm lfr tmog in groups an expansion later now xD… a solution could be to give cosmetics for every boss that look the same like the actual gear pieces that droped to make everyone happy.

So, apparently the Storm Sigil Gear upgrades to the Normal Appearance in the Revival Catalyst.
This means the only source for LFR recolors is LFR, and if you’re lucky enough to get a drop in a +2-4 M+ dungeon. (The great vault wont work, it has to be a direct drop).
How is this considered acceptable to make LFR the rarest recolor of them all?

Yeah this is unacceptable. Some of us queue LFR strictly for the transmog. If Blizzard wants to make a change so lesser-geared players are not losing gear to high-geared players, then I propose that acquiring a higher iLvL of the item unlocks ALL the transmog prior to it (IE: Acquiring a Heroic piece unlocks the LFR, Normal, and Heroic transmog). I believe this would help LFR players trying to gear not compete with geared players and those who are geared not needing to compete with LFR players for transmog.

They could always give the Transmog as a token for killing the bosses 4 times like the skips.

As I said earlier, a simpler solution would be simply bring Personal Loot back, but with 2 improvements:
- If you are the one who had loot drop, you get to keep that appearance even if you trade it away. This will encourage you to trade your gear to people who actually need it for upgrades. I think a system like this would be amazing cause it actively encourages helping others gear, while rewarding you for doing so.
- Add a system that allows us to put an item we won in Personal Loot that we don’t need up for a Need/Greed Roll.
This solves 99% of the problems people had with Personal Loot in LFR.
It would kill 99% of the whispers for trading too, cause if you’re willing to trade it - you’d put it up for roll.

I agree with your propositions.

Theres a new exploit which basically removes people from rolling on loot now that is only happening on group loot. Sounds like another good reason to remove it.
