It doesn’t affect your ms at all. The system we are asking for is already in place on retail servers.
Grouping with OCE lags the entire group on retail too. You’re not exactly making a good argument in favor of merging them back here. The signal has to travel all the way between regions, which adds innate lag regardless of how they set it up. It’s a physical distance thing and you see the same problems on phone calls to other countries.
Re-merge with US battlegroups as the game basically feels dead on any day other than reset night.
On a every other night there is at most 1 BG open (across AB/WG/EOTS) and half the time the teams are not filled either. There is also no arena queues outside of 2v2 either.
You’ve already re-enabled OCE+US battlegroups for SoM, do it for TBC Classic as well.
re merge or open OCE>US free transfers… since youve done it the other way (: That way i can @least move a pvp char and actually play that aspect of the game
Hm. So where is the game host?
BGs are fairly casual content where milliseconds don’t matter like they do in arena and raids. I’m in the Pacific time zone and when I party up with my OCE friend on retail, I get triple to quadruple my already inflated MS from playing on a central server. Any arena with OCE players is automatically ruined because the signal has to travel halfway across the planet. I would never greenlight it for anything more hardcore than a BG because it’s just an abysmal experience and the aforementioned milliseconds matter.
He said battlegroups not battlegrounds mate. I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about.
Merge us and use the same system as retail. OCE games when possible, otherwise queue us into US servers. It’s miserable not being able to queue most nights of the week for any bgs or arena.
Peak hour on the weekend right now and across all of OCE there are 4 battlegrounds in total going, all WSG.
Is blizzard going to respond or should oce just abandon pvp?
im getting a bit more bg and arena que pops as of late
Took over 2 hours from 8PM ST last night to get ten (10) 3s games in for points. If we don’t merge for S3 OCE is actually dead, very cool.
Honestly i love sitting 36 min qs on the weekend idk what ur problem is just stop dodging and qs pop easy
Honestly - I simply won’t play multiplayer games that don’t support oceanic servers. Can’t stomach latency. Prefer to play a single player game or a lan game.
I think there’s two markets here, “Wow players”, and “gamers currently playing wow”. To the wow players they will always play wow, with or without a quality gaming experience. To them getting quick queue pops is all that really matters.
To the rest of us, if we can’t get a quality gaming experience out of wow we’ll just play something else.
If it goes back to high latency pvp, I’ll switch games. I don’t feel any particular loyalty to Blizzard or the WoW franchise. I’d rather wait for a queue and have a good experience than have constant queue pops and a bad experience. Can always play or do something else while I wait.
If OCE is dead then it’s dead. Big deal, time to play another game, or roll on a US server if you don’t mind the latency.

I would suggest that most of us still want to stay on an oceanic server to raid, so transferring to a US server isn’t really an option nor a helpful suggestion. Not to be rude, but at your current ratings the merge change wouldn’t affect you negatively anyway as it should prioritise OCE v OCE queues over OCE v US and there are plenty of teams at lower rating, it’s the 1900+ brackets in 3s/5s and 2200+ in 2s that are completely dead.
See this is my contention. There’s no population issue at the average ratings. It’s at the top end there is an issue.
But OCE servers have the population to support the bulk of raiders and pvpers by your own admission.
The issue in my view is with lumping oceanics in with the US comp. We have our own servers our comp should be unique as well. Oceanic players on oceanic servers should be rated against oceanic players not US players.
You really dont get the problem though. Its not just a rating thing, its the fact that all the PvP changes they made caused the average rating in OCE to be drastically lower than NA+EU.
The “average” player in the other regions have a much higher rating which entices PvE players to play to get weapons without RNG from raids. What its done is caused those same players in OCE to either get min pts to buy current seasons weapons the following season or just not bother. Again causing a smaller pool and deflating the rating further.
Starting teams at 0, implementing some of the retail matchmaking and putting rating requirements on items first 2 seasons has killed OCE… They need to do something or let people xfer off here and not just here.
Your delineation of groups is completely arbitrary. By your own logic it would make as much sense to separate US West and US East or East and West Europe as their populations would support it even more-so than the current Oceanic Battlegroup.
Put simply, the system of merged Oceanic PvP is and has been in place in retail for years and – shock horror – no one has complained about it because, funnily enough, 150-180ms in a MMORPG doesn’t actually make that much of an impact.
We have this system because some community forum intern at Blizzard put too much stock in a 1500 Rated Hunter’s inane ramblings and a couple of other washed up idiots who don’t play the game anymore.
Merge us 10 char
Dwake approves this
Can we please get an official word on this before S3/next phase? Original post from Blue’s suggested it would be monitored, and it clearly isn’t. Population dropping by the week, even AV weekend didn’t draw a crowd.
My usual 10 games a week 3s saw us vsing the same RMP 10 times in a row - not competitive or enjoyable, doesn’t leave you wanting to queue more.
