Please put minimum level on crafting orders for the public

Well today was the day, finally I was going to get a new shield. All my gear was above 600 but my previously crafted shield. I did the raid for the week and delves and world events and did not find a shield so I decided I would craft one at 619, but I had already made my own sword, so I had a lot of farming to do. spend several hours gathering mats and got a friend to make me an enchanted rune and now was the time. I put in the crafting order and in the notes said please 619, 615 lowest please. and wrote in chat hello blacksmiths a crafting order has been placed with a large tip. I had attached 20k gold you see, excited I called my buddies on discord ready to link them the shield only to me met with utter disappointment. I opened that mail and instantly my heart sank…it was a 609…why KASPARIAN why would you do this to me! Today another healer leaves the arena not sure when they will return all because a foolish soul wanted to play havoc in someone’s life.

you put a 20k tip on a public order. of course it’s going to get filled out by some joe without the crafting skill, it’s a free 20k. next time take the few extra minutes and in trade chat post LF BLACKSMITH FOR (CRAFTED PIECE) MAX LVL WILL TIP WELL FOR CONCENTRATION.

LOL… you basically attached 20k to a box and said pls leave what i want inside… Well this is a cheap learning experience at least.

Don’t use public orders for anything you need a specific quality for you dummy.

You did the in-game equivalent of leaving the car keys in a lambo in the worst neighborhood in your city while simultaneously not expecting it to get stolen.

I very much enjoy your toxic replies. They made me laugh. I agree I wont use the public order again, I thought “hey people can read and be nice and with a little team work we can all be happy” but now I remember wow is full of nothing but hateful mean people who are just thinking about themselves. selfish. back to playing alone in delves lmao :stuck_out_tongue:

Sadly, people will do what the game lets them do, and for some reason Blizzard seems to feel they will be good people.

If they can introduce a rank requirement into private orders, why it can be done for a public one is beyond me. It seems a weird oversight.

Never ever do public orders on anything important.

Leave messages in trade channel and wait for a crafter to send you a tell for a PERSONAL crafting order where you can establish minimum quality.

That way, no one makes a mistake or loses mats and gold.

Why do you think all those people spam trade to send them personal crafting orders?

I really don’t understand why they are making a stand on this.

No matter how important the reasoning behind not allowing this is, this solution makes it a dysfunctional system. It allows the seller to define the product after the transaction has been made. It’s an absurd situation.

So it’s kind of an existential problem. If a functional system is so problematic it can’t be functional, why exist at all?

I don’t either. Nobody uses public orders on my server group. I haven’t seen ONE.

Because of this very thing. It makes no sense, and I’m seeing a lot of nonsense lately. I mean, I’m really enjoying TWW, and it’s little things that make no sense like just randomly chunking the Derby down from 25 marks to 3 with the rationale that somebody might want to spend literally all day every Saturday repeating the derby over and over. Like, what? Who asked for that?

And making public crafting orders a non-starter by not putting in a quality assurance click box for the buyer. I mean, my gracious, even the PATRON orders have a quality requirement. The flippin’ NPCs have better quality control than actual players, and that makes not one lick of sense.

It’s the little baffling and nonsensical things like this that make me shake my head.

Out of curiosity what quality of mats did you include in the order?

You can always try this trick, post the order at 1s (lowest you can commission) and put in the note that you will only tip if rank 5 (or whatever the lowest rank you wanted was) and ask for the person to send an ingame mail if they made it at rank 5 and you will send then the tip back as the reply.

They should add quality limits to public orders now that concentration exists.

The two things go well together.

You might even see actual orders in the public order space if they do that where currently it’s empty 90% of the time outside of some PvP orders and things like treatises.

And now you can laugh cynically when you hear the phrase “Most people are basically good people”. Many people will scam others right and left, and other people will blame you for trusting people. Then everyone wonders why there’s no community or camaraderie and a trend in loneliness.

We need a BBB for every aspect of this game, because not nearly enough people take Wheaton’s Law to heart.

sorry to hear that, OP. as others have said in this thread I would recommend if you want gear placed, the best option is to find a crafter through trade and put in a personal order. you can set a minimum quality through personal orders and there’s no chance that way of being disappointed.

blizzard have indicated previously that they view public orders as a quick and dirty place to get gear made cheaply when you don’t care very much about the final product - that’s why buyers can unilaterally set the price for a public order, so i don’t think they’ll change the system any time soon.

if you look for a crafter to recraft your shield to 619 for you on a personal order, you can set a minimum quality on the recraft to ensure that you’re happy with the result. And if you add the crafter to your friends list, you can go back to them in s2 or s3 when you need your shield recrafted with new sparks to increase its item level, saving you some time finding a crafter with each recraft. :+1:

Only if they also make it so what you can set the limit at is based on the materials you provide, not everyone can do rank 5 yet, especially with low quality materials even with concentration.

If nobody could do it or didn’t want to do it at whatever gold they offered their order would just sit their unfilled until it expired.

and then we would have complaints about how useless the system is due to no one being able to make rank 5.

I am just talking about limits like you need to provide rank 3 mats for rank 5 goods, rank 2 mats will enable you to set up to rank 4, if you only provide rank 1 mats, you are stuck at rank 3. Keep in mind though, for the earlier skills, it is very possible to make rank 5 with rank 1 mats due to closing in on max base skill.

i mean who doesn’t care the final result? so much gold not mentioning the time gate mat, blizzard is bs in this regard, public order should be able to set minimum level period, whether can be filled is up to the market
