tl;dr I went Boralus>Ironforge>Menethil Harbor>Theramore Isle>Ratchet>Booty Bay
When I could have just gone SW>fly to BB
EDIT: So it seems as this is more of a one-off issue, more along the lines of a bug of sorts, as there is no description listed other than quest flavor. Most other quests seem to list an actual destination. However my issue still stands, it would be nice to turn that part of the quest tracker off.
Doing the Magical Spyglass quest you can pick-up from the Island expeditions. I am instructed to take it to someone else for some Azerite. The person is not specified in quest text which isn’t all-together unusual, but it would not say who to give it to in the quest tracker. Rather it instructed me to take the portal to Stormwind, as I was in Pandaria. I port to Boralus as that is my home. It now says take the Ironforge portal. Ok sure. I go to Ironforge, and it now says to the Menethil Harbor to take the boat to Theramore… At that point I figured It would have been quicker to go to Silithus and fly. But I take the boat anyways because I still have no idea where I am supposed to in the end. Get to Theramore Isla, and now I am instructed to go to Booty Bay from the boat in Ratchet… Really? I should have just gone Stormwind > BB and be done with it…
There was no tracking down who it would belong to by talking to people across Azeroth.
There was no reason to spend 3 times as long on a bread-drop quest that was just useless traveling. There is benefit to the new tracker implemented for newer players, but PLEASE let us the option to turn it off.
I’m looking at another quest that sends me to Azshara the zone. It listed (optional) for portals, and it listed exactly what I should do: Bring core to Duke Hydraxis in Azshara.
Looking at other quests, I think this may be a one-off issue, as there is no description listed other than quest flavor. However my issue still stands, it would be nice to turn that part of the quest tracker off.
Nope, I had this quest yesterday, checking map only told me iron forge with nothing to show it ends in stv. I allready did this quest on a alt and assumed it meant something in the tunnel because from both iron forge and stormwind it told me go to the tunnel. This time I just ignored it and flew to STV, done.
i had the quest for the eye of nzoth cuz i neevr do the naga stuff, and it was telling me how to collect the relics. said KT for the first, so i use my wormhole and get to drustvar. it tells me FROM DRUSTVAR to take the boat to zand and then from zand to go BACK TO DRUST.
did this the entire quest. after the 2nd time it did it just wowheaded my places to be. i hate
I just had it tell me to go to Dalaran and then to Orgrimmar to take a portal…
…when I was in Stormheim, looking for two other quest objectives that were both in the Broken Isles. Orgrimmar doesn’t show up anywhere in that picture, but it told me to go there anyway.
And then there was classic where there was zero quest tracking and the quest description itself was some cryptic jibber-jabber.
I remember something told me to go to Ironforge to buy a hammer (as a Horde priest). I learned to ignore weirdo things like that early on. Probably because before that, a friend in a raid guild helped me get to Ironforge for the Lunar festival thing and then scolded me when I corpse rezzed (big repair bills for high end gear…mine was cheap but he said Never rez. So I had to run thru Ironforge naked and corpse hop to get that done. Lesson learned.
For this specific quest it does not. I literally just did it and it did not show me where to go. I suspect this is more of a bug issue particular to this quest.
It was high enough priority for them to add this new system in, they should have included a toggle or done a significantly better job on telling people where to go.
I figure out where I need to go and ignore all suggestions from the game unless I was planning on doing it anyway. They said this system was supposed to make travel faster … hahahahaha they do love a good joke
This was an extremely stupid addition to the game that treats us all as if we were low IQ three year olds. And it even fails at taking you in a logical direction of travel.
The whole thing is ridiculous and either needs a toggle or scrapped completely. I mean, if someone out there actually likes this new-fangled, hand-holding system, then fine. But for the love of all that is green and good… let intelligent people who don’t need directions have the ability to turn it off.
