Hey Blizzard friends - listen, we all know that Shadowlands was not the most well-received of content, but there is some lovely stuff in there that I would like to experience again with new alts! Unfortunately, the stuff that I want to see is mostly in Ardenweald and maybe Revendreth, and unlike every single other zone in the entire game, I cannot just choose to go there when I want to and skip around in the story. I know the story in Shadowlands was very linear, but Threads of Fate existed for a reason, and it never made any sense to get rid of it (heck, even Threads wasn’t open enough, since it closed you to the main story quests - the way this is handled in DF zones is well done). Now that we know you’re never going to be funneling new players into SL content, can we please unlock these zones for low levels so players can see the bits they like again?
I know the crux of your question is to open threads to lower-level toons, but just want to point out you can use threads on a level 60+ toon as long as you haven’t touched SL on them before.
Yeah, and thank goodness for that or I’d never go there on anyone, but at that point you’ve leveled out of the zones, and the only reason to be there is to go grind for things. Pretty silly not to have it available for actually using the zones.
Nazjatar and Argus…am I a joke to you?
Actually now that I think about it, the entire continent of Kul’tiras and Zandalar are also inaccessible to the opposite faction until you progress the campaign. Mechagon too if you’re a horde player.
That being said, almost no one these days has Zereth Mortis unlocked. Or at least all the people I encounter when doing SoFO mog runs.
Okay, fair, almost every other zone in the game (though I definitely think they should open up Naz and Argus - and Tanaan Jungle - too!). At least for Naz, you don’t have to do the entire story to unlock it. I can’t remember how much you need to get done, but I took an alt there recently who had only done a tiny bit of Zuldazar.
Personally, I think there was an issue with ToF implementation in Chromie Time and that’s why it wasn’t added. It’s a much different system, considering Covenant abilities still exist, while Artifacts are now greyed out. So jumping around story zones isn’t tied to player power in those other ones the way it is in ToF.
I wish they’d figure out how to fix that, though.
Also, just as a PSA: do not use a portal, the flightpath heirloom toy, do not start any questlines and don’t get summoned to SL content if you want to get ToF at 60+. It screws you out of it.
I don’t count later add-on zones like Naz and Argus. I only look at the main zones added at the beginning of the expansion. Shadowlands is the only expansion that locks you out of the other original zones unless you do the full zone quests in order. That needs to be changed.
I didn’t mind having to “open” those zones, per se, but I did mind that it was confusing to do so and took me a while to figure out. Like on Argus you’ll start to see world quests before you’ve actually fully opened the zone and it took me a while to figure out what to do do get everything else opened up when I went back there a couple years later.
