Please no PTRs

Howdy,
I wish to advocate against PTRs for testing new content. The main reason being that it takes away from the excitement on the release day:
Will it be as hard as people remember?
Can our guild handle it?
Will this Pserver strat still work?

Blizzard’s releases so far don’t seem buggy in terms of the new content, thus far. Why is this needed?

I’m hoping for AB to go out on the PTR.

lol, thanks! Back at you!

PTR doesn’t mean what you think you mean here.

PTR generally means Public Test Realm

ATM whats being used are Private Test Realms, which are private servers hosted by that guild. Blizz cannot stop it.

i agree, it can kind of take away from the “rediscovering”/authentic aspect of classic wow, and they’re rereleasing old content not new content so they should already know what to expect

PTR is used by guilds to test strategy vs new raid content so they can smash it day 1.

It wont. It’s over 15 years old.

They can

It will

Why? Why are people so determined to blow through content so fast? Classic isn’t going anywhere; slow down and actually enjoy the game.

come on…

because they have so little going on in their life this is the way they can boost their ego and feel they achieved something when in reality all they do is sitting 140 hour a week spamming some buttons

PTRs may be used to run raids before they go live for practice… But a lot of folks came from the pirate servers… So they know the fights already…

PTRs can test bugs too…

This makes sense when the content is a surprise. Nothing in Classic is a surprise, it’s all been seen before.

Think that’s the goal here. I don’t remember the original AQ events at all, but supposedly they were very, very buggy (no pun intended).

From what I read up on… Wasn’t one of the bosses unable to be killed due to a bug?

I may be misremembering.

Then don’t play on the PTR.

Worry about your own excitement and stop concerning yourself with others’.

Sorry my excitement is validated on the progress of others. I must not have my own enjoyment. Enjoyment must be compared to the players around me.

Guess we found someone that wants to exploit bugs early and exploit bugs often.

The idea of a test realm is to test the game for bugs - not to play content early.

Here is an idea - get your guild to not play the ptr, and you can clear it day one when it goes live - leave the ptr for those that actually want to test the game and fix it so it doesnt launch broken.

I applaud your faith in Blizzard actually doing this.
