This was a horrible change, please revert it to allow us to target Starfall where we want rather than on ourselves.
Please, pretty please, cheery on top whatever…
Thank you.
you should be banned for saying trhis
Well that seems… harsh.
You’re gonna be alone in this man. With the one exception of being able to get stealthies out and stop drinks around pillars and stuff in pvp, the new starfall is just objectively better. It hits harder, hits more, and requires no effort really.
Coming from a pvper I get the appeal of having a “blizzard” like ability but honestly this is just a better spell.
I don’t think these points have anything to do with how you cast Starfall. The damage increase could have applied to a targeted ability as well for example.
I liked the targeted version of Starfall too, but I don’t mind the aura version. It does make “Stellar Drift” more appealing. The talent functions better when you don’t need additional input to get the cast while moving buff.
I’d argue “hits more” and “requires no effort” directly relate to how its casted currently. The range is significantly bigger when it’s not targeted and it follows you. Thus it requires no time aiming, and no recasting of it if mobs walk out of the area. Not sure what you’re getting at with saying this. I know damage can be tweaked regardless of design but I’m just saying this current iteration has been an improvement in all regards except the aforementioned pvp scenarios which admittedly I sometimes miss.
Sorry, no, I prefer this version.
I hate targeting reticles.
This version is infinitely better.
Though I do sorely wish they would bring back the untamed stars glyph (Makes starfall hit EVERYTHING in its aura). I prided myself on being able to use that glyph in WoD challenge modes without pulling extra mobs. …I just had to be off in my own zip code to only hit the mobs the group was attacking!
With the range of Starfall, the practical uses of having it target around you far exceed that of being able to aim it an extra 15 yards. That’s what Moonfire is for!
Played with a balance druid yesterday who didn’t use starfall once in an entire run. His dps was terrible of course, so I messaged him after and just said keep starfall up 100% of time on AOE and you’ll gain like 30% damage at least.
He said he didn’t because he didn’t want to aggro everything. Had to then explain how it only hits things in combat…blew his mind.
I haven’t re-checked the tooltip but they really need to make this clear if it doesn’t. This wasn’t a high key obviously, it was just a +10 or +11 or something. But if it’s happening at that level, there’s going to be newbie boomkins everywhere thinking the same.
And yes - leave starfall as it is in terms of mechanics. But move some of our damage back into our dots and “nukes” please.
Ill revisit this one the first time a lot of you accidentally pulls a ton of mobs you didnt intend to, lol
To each their own of course, but give me control over it allllll day.
Starfalls radius will not pull mobs that are not in combat. Your radius to mobs will, aka face pulling.
But you can Starfall, run over and put a mob within its radius, and it will not aggro/take damage, and you can/will remain out of combat the whole time.
Not sure thats what ive observed, but i hope your right.
You have got to be kidding. PBAoE Starfall is miles and miles aheald of targeted starfall.
He is right. That’s how it works. Go to SoB and test it. Mobs fighting everywhere that don’t aggro you.
To be fair, those have nothing to do with it being self-centered or focusable on a target area.
If anything, the version that would cover less total area would usually be the one with higher DPS potential, and the one that allows for choice in area selection the one with the (usually lauded) higher skill ceiling, if only situationally.
I’m not sure why everyone is nitpicking my quote and taking only parts of it.
To everyone: forget I said it hits harder
It hitting more things, being faster to use, and easier to use are all byproducts of the change to an “aura.” I don’t know what more there is to say. It loses some benefits in pvp but overall it’s just better.
For the same reasons that feral will never get significant bleed damage back, moonkin will probably never see a return of dots being big sources of dps.
PvP ruins everything.
I believe there’s a macro that lets you use the ability with your mouse cursor.
He is entirely correct.
It only hits mobs in combat or it wouldn’t be useable in dungeons st all. Its a 40yd diameter, which is 80yds across.
I have heard there are some mobs it will hit who are in combat with each other. E.g mobs fighting, which happens in a few places. But I have yet to have it hit anything that we weren’t fighting.
