Please make some changes to monk

Ive played monk on and off since legion, Windwalker really needs some attention here. we are the 3rd worst dps in raid (Aug has its own reasons to bring it even though low damage, and Fire mage has two other specs to swap to) We are considered the worst dps for m+ not only is our damage low our buff is considered unbelievelably worthless in m+. Our low damage is not helped by the fact we are a non burst non dot based melee dps (bursty dps get less penalised for poorer uptime, Dots tick while not active on boss) we also have the issue that we are completely melee based and our longest ranged spell being 9 yards with strike of the windlord.

The way to help WW is to reduce the penalitys of wws damage profile during bad uptime since right now uptime is effectievly 0 dps. A talent adding additonal range 3 range to every spell like outlaw will increase monks uptime when dodging small puddle mechanics. The next thing that will help is increasing the damage of major hitting spells like WDP, SOTW, FOF and decreasing the damage of less basic spells. SEF also needs to be a better CD, if it is unablanceable in the current state due to its bugs bring back serenity to replace it.

(Less suggested idea here) Another solution to low uptime would be to add a talent that if you stop doing damage to a target for a few seconds to do a % of the damage you recently did as a dot (kind of a balancing nightmare)

if all else fails please just slap us with some 3% all damage buffs til we are at a decent spot. But blizzard please just try something anything to help us out here we are in a very poor spot right now.

Dont worry towards the end of the tier youll get the traditional “we have no clue what to do with your class so just suck until we buff you towards the end of it” windwalker % fixes that always happen

Lil bit of hyperbole there, but we’re definitely not first on the call sheet for keys.

Let’s start off by just reverting nerfs. XBG’s nerfs could be reverted. Invoker’s nerf can be reverted. SEF’s nerf can be reverted. Our AoE nerfs could be reverted. Karma nerfs could be reverted. Then there’s also optimizing the talent trees that needs to be done.

There’s quite a bit to unpack here.

Saying we are the weakest is too broad. The damage profile is very flat and consistent which in the lower end of mythic plus (10’s and lower) is actually better. Having decent damage always available will help the key and it doesnt matter it its adds or boss you can do well.
I’ll agree the mystic touch is a terrible buff. The rest of our utility also leaves room to be desired. There is strong defensives and heals so survivability is rarely an issue. For what we can use for the groups though we have RoP which can be useful. Paralyze outside of a de-enrage has fallen off with a lot of aoe just breaking it easily. tigers lust which is just a weaker freedom.

This is part of a larger buggier issue we have with WW. SEF not receiving all our buffs (such as acclamation) while splitting our damage for what should be a 20% damage increase turns out to be closer to a 5% damage increase.
we also have CJL for a long range ability cast if you are so worried about up time. Tuning on it and EMP Cap is terrible but if tuned better could be a better solution.

The reason we have so many movement abilities is to help reduce downtime. Also blizzard made it clear by removing all the range extension talents that they dont want that.
Saying just raise damage wouldnt be a solution to make the class more bursty. WDP, SotWL and WDP are your core abilities. they should be keeping your baseline damage. If you want thing to be more bursting you need you longer cds to be more impactful. Things like fixing SEF (probably a lot harder than we know) and having Xuen do more. Xuen’s ETL needs to be the target of buffs. It should happen every seconds doing double the damage it is currently.
Bringing serenity back, as it was, would bring a whole new set of problems. Having free spenders does not lead to good game play. if it acted a lot more like heart of the jade serpent there could be some merit.

This will always just be a bandaid to make everyfeel better but never actually fixes the class.
