I read the patch notes for MM in 8.1 and it's a STEP into making MM somewhat great again. I wish it was a LEAP though. Marked shot should have never been taken out the game. Rapid fire is a weak attack and just overall fail. We were better off keeping marked shot. Also it shouldn't take 10000 years to cast aimed shot & a 3 min wait for trueshot when SV & BM CD is a whole minute lower............ Like really who said that was a good idea? We didn't ask to be a freaking sniper class. We need MORE mobility in PVE/PVP like in legion.

True shot is on a 2 min cd and there is a talent that you can take that can reduce that much further to only a 1 min cd.
Given the buffs to this ability cd wise there isn't much of an issue.

Properly played MM slightly edges BM and is pretty much the same as Survival on single target, slightly lags both on multi-target.
By "slightly" I mean less than a single percentage point high-to-low difference between them.
I'm not sure what the issue is.
Except maybe just that you don't like the fact that the specs are incredibly close as far as effectiveness goes.

i have a feeling they arent gonna do much more this xpac with MM. we will have to wait for 9.0 to hopefully be a good spec again. my sub runs out in 12 days cause i'm tired of this class being garbage.

I doubt that Blizz has any intention of stacking enough haste on the 400+ level gear to even come close to getting us out of the basement by the end of the Xpac. This is as about as bad as Cata

I generally dislike the 8.1 changes.
I like rapid fire. It's our best finisher in PVP. It's not a great finisher, but it's better than nothing.

If I can keep my target at range, that's all I'd care for. I wouldn't need much mobility if I know how to pick my vantage points. I was overjoyed that these changes are coming.

maybe on a target dummy. not in raids or pvp not even close. in fact not even in the same universe.
and nothing there doing fixes any of the core problems with it.

Facts. And it needs a quicker cast time. If we can machine gun arrows then im sure we should have a quicker AiS times. Blizz hates us.

You're missing the issue with MM, and the primary reason people are complaining and asking for MM changes.
You're right, the raw numbers are very close, the issue isn't with just raw throughput though, it's a much more complicated issue than that.
MM has a single, competitive ST build; which is required to talent/azerite trait into just to compete with SV and BM which have more player-friendly requirements.
MM also sacrifices a huge portion of it's aoe capabilities by specing into ST, whereas SV and BM both have the ability to effectively AOE and ST in the same 1-2 popular builds.

On fights that are single target, mm will dominate its also very good on weeks that are tyranical or anything that isnt aoe or add heavy for mythic +, but when it comes to cleave or weeks that need alot of aoe damage it falls flat on its face, i still seem to get by but im 381 an geared specifically for marksman, ive invested the entire expansion into grinding the gear and working around with the stats to make it work, i think at max ilvl with a 390+ ilvl wep mm is very very strong, it outscales both surv and bm on any boss fight that isnt heavy cleave. Also while haste shows an sims the best dps, ive found it to be a huge burden if you get to much and your cast times go to below your global, you kinda wanna aim for about 12-13% before your overwhelming power or gale-force striking, these will give you decent cast time but not clip into your global, after you reach that try an stack as much mastery as you can.

Bring back glaive toss marks again.
LnL is very underwhelming. The devs wanted lvl 100 talents to be what you make your build around. You don't make a build around a rng 5% proc chance. In general MM has far too much rng in its talent rows.

1: I had built a large selection of Azurite Armor to test differant talent builts and playstyles. With the new PTR patch, Arcane Flurry is gone from every piece of armor that I had it on. Surging Shots has taken it’s place. Every piece that had Surging Shots previously still does.
2: Surging Shot damage is being applied as described in the tooltip now. Still, no other Azurite Trait option is competitive with it. 3xSurging Shot beats all. (I still do more single target DPS on live with 3xSteady Aim).
3: Double Tap is consistantly providing me with more Rapid Fire damage per minute then Lethal Shots. It also provides better burst, and is a case of control vs RNG.
4: Calling the Shots still lets you get Trueshot down to roughly a 1 minute CD.
