PLEASE make "Man'ari Eredar" into their own distinct Allied Race

I really dig being able to unlock cosmetic customization options, but “Man’ari Eredar” seem a bit extreme for just “cosmetics”. The Draenei are a very distinctive culture, and it definitely does not overlap with the Eredar of Argus.

Now first off, I would suggest using the name “Eredar” for them. “Man’ari” is a term that refers very specifically to the most vile of the Eredar, which is why I would reserve the name to only refer to “evil Eredar” moving forward.

For cosmetics, you honestly could just port over most of those options you gave to the Draenei. I might have an onyx-black skin tone as well, just because I think it would mesh well. They obviously have some Fel and Void themed visuals, maybe more of an orange/fiery color for their eyes as well.

I would change their tails, though, to give them longer, slithering tails. Nothing crazy or anything, just enough for a bit of visual distinction. I would also probably add a “true black” hair color. Maybe some monotone grey skin colors as well, mirroring Archimonde a bit, but overall sticking more towards red hues.

Maybe a couple “bald” variations with various “plates” or horns as well. You gotta squeeze a Diablo reference in there somewhere.

Now, where I would shake things up is that for Classes, they obviously don’t get access to Paladins (and probably not Shamans, given Nobundo was the first). I would add the ability to become Demon Hunters if possible, however, as I think they would probably fit the class well, both visually and thematically. I would add Orcs as a parallel for the Horde, as well.

As far as Racials go, I’m not really sure. A fun idea (although perhaps broken) would be the ability to “bribe” hostile NPC’s/enemies to turn them yellow to you, kind of referencing how for most of Warcraft history, they would deceive other races into allowing them into their midst. Would be mechanically pretty useful in a lot of situations as well, just trying to run past certain mobs, stuff like that (obviously, disabled in any sort of competitive environment like BG’s, Raids, or M+).

Otherwise, I would dig some of the “cracked” skins the NPC’s in Legion had, red skin with bright fel-green energy showing through. Maybe something sort of Void-themed as well, and maybe also something more broadly just “Arcane” in nature (the Eredar were originally all exceptional Mages, as I remember), just so they don’t feel totally shoehorned into being “evil”.

For my part, I think a good Horde counterpart to the Eredar would be formally adding the Grimtotem Tauren, but with more “spooky” visual options. Eerie face and body paint designs, splintered looking horns or antlers (looking more like branches of a dead tree), maybe even faintly glowing eyes (being touched with some form of dark magic), and maybe less polished-looking hooves.

Anyways, just my take.

Especially considering Lightforged are an entirely separate race. If being infused with light makes you a new race, being infused with Fel should too.

Heck even being infused with void makes you a new race (Void Elves)

Eredar for the Horde and High Elves for the Alliance. This is how BFA should have started. Easy W.

The only reason i can see not to is that then dranei would have 3 different races.

I also dont see the burning legion heritage as being exactly welcomed in the alliance lol.

Problem is, that’s exactly what’s already happened. It’s just that the “race” is shoehorned into the Draenei under these new skin colors, when they’re still a fairly different people.

But real talk, I actually think they should do the polar opposite with the Lightforged Draenei, and make them into customization options. You literally do a quest where a normal Draenei becomes Lightforged, and they are culturally identical to the regular Draenei anyways. They’re already a Light-worshiping race, the Lightforged just complete a trial.

But I would almost say the same of the Highmountain Tauren as well, who are also culturally identical to the regular Tauren. That’s why I felt like the Grimtotem would make for a fair counterpart, because both races are kind of in the same boat.

Its a tricky issue… unlike the terrible idea light borne were man’ari eredar had a distinct look and different customization options. I agree three feels excessive its likely just a compromise.

Yea and other guy made a good point. LF dranei literally start as draenei.

Weird issue.

Playable Manari was a ridiculously stupid idea without them actually being set up as discontents before the Legion fell.

no.

Copy/paste races and calling it new is just being lazy for lack of creativity.

Pass, would have been better if they would have done every Allied Race except Vulpera and Kul Tiran as a customization option.

Man’ari under Draenei is a great example of how well they can do customizations to represent a race without actually needing a new one.

Because we need even more cheap copy&paste races. Yeah… no thanks.

This.
Overweight humans though are still humans, not a different race. Just because Blizzard is oudated doesn’t mean they should treat overweight humans as their own race.

It won’t happen. Like they did it for Wildhammer Dwarves and “High Elves” but also for Sand Trolls and Dark Trolls, they will stay customization for Draenei. You need to deal with it.

Mechagnomes should have been a customization option instead of a race.

All my homies hate the Grimtotem tauren.

Required screw you Magatha, nobody likes you. The fact I had to suffer your presence on my Tauren Shaman was a disgrace.

I wouldn’t hate that (although curious why you set Kul Tirans apart?).

The problem with the Draenei, is that “Draenei” aren’t a “race” – they are the Eredar, they just started calling themselves “Draenei” because it means “exiled”. So the name itself quite literally correlates to “joining Velen when he fled from Argus”.

Really, “Allied Races” are just super inconsistent. Sometimes they’re barely recolors, sometimes they’re totally new races. Sometimes they share animations with existing races, sometimes they don’t.

It’s just very, very messy design.

I would agree if they weren’t completely different models but they literally are.

Kul Tiran should have been a customization for Humans. Just need to make it like the Dracthyrs with body types

It doesn’t matter. In other games, it’s normal to choose between different body options. Just because Blizzard is stuck in the early 2000s when it comes to RPG aspects, we shouldn’t act as if being overweight is a reason not to be considered a normal human.

They still would have needed to use the actual Human model instead of using a completely different one which isn’t what they did, most stuff that’s considered a copy/paste race can be used on the other race in the case of Kul Tiran and Humans that wouldn’t work at all.
