Please make flying retroactive

I wouldn’t mind flight being unlocked through exploration, but the story content has become so episodic that I don’t really see the point in requiring players to mess with older story content, even from the newer expansions. For example, by BfA, the Dark Portal has apparently been cut-off from Azeroth, which is why the Horde have to take such a circuitous time travel route to recruit the Mag’har. Level 100-120 players visiting their garrisons after BfA’s release are, in fact, defying the game story which says such travel is now impossible.

I don’t understand where the assumption that those new players hate the game is coming from. What I said applies to them, also. If they’re unhappy with the ridiculous rep grinds we’re given now, encourage them to tell Blizzard that. Telling people to just quit the game when they don’t like one aspect of it is ridiculous.

Good Luck with that. Atleast with WoD you could by the rep tokens. Legion I don’s recall any of those in the expansion.

I did the grind in past expansions… I wouldn’t care that now those expansion are over that returning players could unlock it for something like 10k gold per character… No not account wide. If you want it account wide then you do the grind like we did. But I am all for having more options.

I don’t hate the game at all. I’m even 75%-ish through the regular quests in Legion and have done all of Suramar to get the Nightborne allied race. I’ve enjoyed Legion questing so far and am happy to go through the regular quests/story arcs on the ground. What’s got me is the requirement to grind out past expansion reputations, which are effectively useless except for flying and new races at this point. That’s simply pointless time-gating of outdated content now.

When I came back I experienced something similar to what a previous poster said. I started back at 85, played through 60-ish percent of Pandaria, ended up at level 96-ish, went to WoD, did two zones and hit 105-ish, went to Legion, did one zone, hit 110, and moved on to BfA. One could say I leveled up the “old fashioned way”, via questing. At this point I’ve done all there is to do in BfA as far as questing and rep gains go. It would be nice to have put the time in and jumped through all the hoops at current content level and have that count for the same in past content; that’s all I’m talking about.

I don’t think that as a veteran player people who started after 2005 should be entitled to play the game with all the changes made since then. Everyone should have to play through all of the years’ of content the same way I had to back when it was current.

See how ridiculous that sounds?

You might understand if you would have read the entire conversation. These aren’t real new players. These are the ‘think of the new players’ arguments that are brought into all these threads to try and shore up weak arguments.

These new players who don’t like questing who don’t like leveling, don’t both even making threads on this forum they just leave and find a game like overwatch where they can just jump right in.

Only certain folks are allowed to speak to what’s fun and what’s not in World of Warcraft! Not saying they are right or wrong but clearly the subscription tally must be some sort of indicator

It seems, some, would prefer it to be just a select group of old players and if the new customer base is not happy then Damn them they can just go away…

Then again, who needs new revenue, World Of Warcraft is a non-profit company, right

waaah, I had to do it so you should too.

I did it on the ground and I have no issues with a returning or new player getting it on older content

Yep. The point is to keep players busy and subbed longer but I’m not sure that it’s worked out the way they wanted. It’s not super popular.

Their subscription money is just as real as yours  “You might understand if you had any concept of revenue.”

There is no subscription money because all these players you are trying to speak on behalf of don’t exist except in your head.

I have talked a few friends in to giving it a go, according to them it’s not!

Really? And the drop in subscription/player base, that’s all in my head too?

Yeah. But on the flip side, other MMOs on the market have been watching what Blizzard does wrong and they’re doing the exact opposite things, so… at least some good is coming from it.

Why?

Serious question: why does it matter to you? I did the Legion flying grind and I personally completely agree with the original post. I could care less if someone has it easier in OLD, OUTDATED content.

It doesn’t diminish your achievement whatsoever.

All Blizzard is teaching them is how to milk a herd for every drop they can get for as little feed as they can give! If a few die off, well Meh, we can get a few to buy a flying mount that we don’t allow them to use

I recently got my significant other into playing this game and once they reached WoD and found out they had to do an old pathfinder achievement to fly, they gave up on questing entirely and leveled exclusively in dungeons. I’m not saying I agree with OP, but I can understand the frustration for new or returning players.

A common and necessary request.

How am I supposed to sell getting back into WoW to my wife and friends when I explain they’lll have to grind THREE DIFFERENT PATHFINDERS if they want to fly everywhere? That’s a nonstarter.

Reexamine your metrics, blizzard. You can inconvenience players for the sake of time played, players who continue to quit over it. Or you can implement common sense solutions and regain lost players.

People also spent 2 years in that content when it was new. Now it’s more like 2 days.

I think flying breeds poor attitudes in players and expectations of being able to engage and disengage with the world on a whim. I don’t necessarily think that’s a good thing for the game really.

But I think it’s far too late to just remove flight, and I’m fine with pathfinder, though they seem to space it out a bit too much honestly.

In old content though I don’t see the big deal at this point, and don’t really think flight should be blocked there. It’s obsolete content, so who really cares anymore. Meh.
