Please make flying retroactive

it was also unlocked at max level, and you could buy flight books for your alts to fly at lower levels. like being able to fly during Wrath at lvl 68…

Ahh, so you think I don’t know what it takes to be productive in World Of Warcraft?

The game is constructed to be a time sink, always has been always will be!

That reality comes with a simple /played typed in to chat for each character and then let simply math speak for itself

I don’t think just because you are a returning player that makes you entitled to have things we all grinded for. I would say No, not going to happen.

Hey all,

I think some of you may be misunderstanding what I asked for. It was a request to be given the ability to fly, only fly, no achievements or mounts or things, once it’s fully earned in current content. It was not a request for hand-waving immediate access to something simply because I had to be away from the game for an extended amount of time.

As I said originally, I’m fine with having to jump through the hoops to get flying in BfA. Being able to fly in all old content once I earn flying in BfA would be a very helpful thing to encourage returning players to do more than blow through old content on their way to BfA.

leveling up 120s levels is progression - gearing up characters is progression - getting reputation is progression - maxing out professions is progression. Just because a bunch of complainers have managed to get shortcuts put in the game does not make the game any less about progression.

I understood exactly what you want, you want to be rewarded 3 times as much for doing something once. That isn’t something to brag about, it isn’t desirable.

The past expansions are now easier to attain flying in simply because of the leveling being faster, and there are catch up mechanics that have been implemented. To summarize your post, it means that you want to play the game, but only the parts that interest you, and not the entire game.

I know what you’re asking, you basically want to fly in old content aka legion and wod without having to grinding for it. Just because you did it via the current expansion doesn’t entitle you to the old stuff you missed cause you were not playing. It’s always been this way and you’re not the first one to feel this way, it should stay as it is. If it’s a useless slog then you solved the issue on your own and you don’t’ need to do it.

With all of the other things they’ve done to supposedly decrease the barrier to entry, including the level squish they mentioned in the last Q&A, making Pathfinder retroactive to the current expansion wouldn’t be a bad idea. Flight for levels 90-120 are locked up by some form of Pathfinder.

For old content, I think you should have to go through it once on the ground to open up Pathfinder. That’s it. No gold, no reps to Revered, none of that. Just see it once from the ground and here you go: every toon on your account can fly in the old stuff now.

But it does !

I leveled this mage from 0 on a new server. WoD lasted 5 hours. I only explored first zone and boom level 95. Some donjons =-> 98, welcome to Legion !

It’s not a progression. There is NOTHING what changes except my level.

Truth to be told, I would prefer blizzard keeping XP needed in each expac and adding some “not very hard” achievement before moving to next expac.

Right now a new player’s progression is :

  • Level to level 10
  • LFD normal until 120
  • Some more to get ilvl for heroic
  • 2-3 heroics
  • Farm reputation (remember new player : no WQ yet)
  • Farm WQ, Warfront
  • Congratulations, you are ilvl 380ish and can start heroic BoD

It’s not about progression, it’s about catch up the fastest way to the “Curve”.

for some players maybe but as I said, those players aren’t likely to stay with this game for long anyway.

Grinding for gold was small in BC (I had 3 characters with fast flying before wrath hit). After BC you didn’t have to grind for gold to fly.

We had flying at max level for 8 years and they were 8 of the best years for wow. In WoD Blizzard suddenly decided flying was a problem and started a war on it with the playerbase. Time gating flying is a petty and spiteful power move by Blizzard against the playerbase.

How about that :

Add something in current content to unlock flight in previous expacs.

Let say Mytic Mother in Uldir to unlock WoD flight

Mythic Grong to unlock Legion flight

Would it be reasonable for you ?

Why these 2 bosses ?

Because it should be SOME challenge. The mytic champions are a joke. I have better success rate with them than with LFR lol. And Mythic Uldir should be puggable with our 400 ilvl gear.

Edit :

Actually I like it more and more :

  • You don’t want to learn Mythic raids ? you have option to do it “old fashion way”
  • You prefer harder content ? Here kill these 2 bosses

If the game isn’t for someone they definitely should leave - to stay playing a game as a new player that you hate is absolutely insane.

im mixed on this. i think you should have a better way forsure but not just basically given it.

Where did OP say they hate the game? They’re telling Blizzard that X thing isn’t fun for them and how it could be improved.

Not that Blizzard will listen anyway.

OP didn’t say that. You came into the middle of a conversation about ‘hypothetical’ new players - which OP isn’t.

That’s the thing about this whole thread of denial  If the game was fun, and grinding was a HUGE part of the game then logically it too would be FUN, no? But in every pro I had to grind to get to where I am, they all read as a bit of the game that is a Right of passage hardly fun! But by God we’re all going to do it because I had to endure that good fun so everyone must too…

Funny read really

I’m with some of the WoW crowd, flying shouldn’t be a months long grind. In TBC, it was more of a gold grind.

I did like the way Blizz did it in Wrath, where once a character got to max and learned flight, a “book” could be bought for the alts to learn flying. Maybe if Blizz did this again, people wouldn’t complain as much. Even if there was a slight rep grind. Example would be for current content, Alliance needs exalted with Proudmoore before being able to learn flying (kinda like what Blizz did with the original mounts, where a character needed sub-faction rep to purchase mounts).
