Hello. I am an AQ40/BWL geared disc/holy priest. Recently while out herbing I got into a battle with an equally geared horde tauren resto druid over a plaugebloom in eastern plaugelands. This fight went on for almost an hour before we both kind of gave up and walked off. However had we not there probably wouldn’t have been an end to this battle. Neither of us could out damage the others healing and mana regen. Clearly something is very broken here.
The main issue from my perpective is i couldn’t mana burn the druid in cat form and he would just regen back to full mana while in cat form and heal himself then use wraty/moonfire a few times and shift back and continue attacking me. None of his attacks really did anything and most times a simple renew or power word shield was enough to stop any damage he could do. I think if druid forms such as cat/bear and travel forms were dispellable magic effects like shamans ghost wolf or power word shield that druids would be more balanced against disc/holy priests.
Yes I am aware this change would completely destroy druids pvp viability as a class but he did try take my plaugebloom so I think it’s only fair.
I remember thinking something similar to what you’re saying when I did arena in tbc and this resto druid went against me (priest) and my buddy (I forget his class) and we ended up just leaving the match because we had already wasted 30+ minutes trying to kill him.
Seems like an interesting scenario, especially that nobody came within 30 seconds of you guys fighting to pick the herb/join in the fight. Not sure if this would work, but worth giving it a try. Next time wait till he pops into human form for whatever reason, fear him into a mind control and then make him aggro every mob in the area. This’ll make it a bit tougher to manage getting rid of the mobs while you pick the herb
Cat Form costs 55% of base mana, and druid heals can be mana hungry and have a relatively long cast time. When he pops into human you either need to put up the pressure to prevent the heal, burst him to death, or force a premature return to Cat Form. Or, aggressively mana burn so he doesn’t have enough mana to shapeshift, at which point he’s a sitting duck.
I think it’s kind of neat that you couldn’t kill each other, though.
Idk as a disc priest you should win this pretty easily.
PI and smite spam is going to ruin him pretty fast.
All his HOTs can be dispelled, his NS can be dispelled, his innervate can be dispelled.
If you start a Mana burn while he’s in a form with Mana and shifts to a non Mana form you will still land the Mana burn and it will still burn his Mana.
Granted he can run away, but if he does you win the herb.
As a healer that has had more than my fair share of long fights vs druids over open worl herbs I applaud your innovative ideas. +1Good sir.
I don’t think anyone that makes comments like this has ever played a class that can fear. Psychic scream has an 8 yard range. Moon fire has a 30 yard range and interrupts herbing. If the Druid has ever played a Druid you won’t be able to pick the node ever.
During the original world of Warcraft beta undead players were actually tagged as undead so abilities like turn undead, shackle, exorcism worked on them. It was a little too unbalanced so blizzard changed them to humanoids. In hindsight I say THIS was the point you couldn’t live with on the balance scale?!? Lol laughs in shaman
