If you can get by with two buttons, try Logitech products. They have native MacOS software.
If you need more buttons, you will need a PC mouse and MacOS software. I highly recommend Karabiner: https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org. It has served me well for many years.
Indeed. The Mx Master Mac series of mice are not designed as gaming mice, but I’ve been using one or another for over five years to play WoW, and I’m satisfied at the 99% level. YMMV, of course, may vary.
Well, like I said, I’m not gonna download programs to make a mouse work. That’s not native to work on macOS. Thank you for the suggestion.
I use a Steelseries Aerox 5 mouse. I’ve downloaded and use Karabiner to be able to use a Razer Tartarus pro. I worked for Apple in the OS group for 23 years. Apple provides means for companies to interface their products. Some are good (Steelseries), some suck (Razer), but can be used with helpful 3rd (or 4th) party software (Karabiner). It’s always been this way.
I assume OP just gave up because of the lack of native support for esoteric input hardware. Like that ever existed.
