They just clip through every helmet, let them be toggled visible or invisible or just remove them entirely when a helmet is on.

If you ever watched and liked Mickey Mouse … hate to break it to ya spud, but you’re a furry!
They’re not the demon, they’re not bad people. Like any fandom, they have a small number that most would like to see removed from existence.
I’d say add better helmet options for Elves and Draenei as well. They could do some extra work and make helmets look good for every race. But it’d take genuine work and effort.
IF there is any part of an armor set that is fugly, the most likely culprit is the helm, after that its the shoulders and then the belt. Everything beyond that is kinda equal in terms of the fugly factor.
Blizzard had one good helm that even hid the Elves eyebrows before 8.3
But after the patch they likely found it was not intended and now the eyebrows clips. Destroying my Nelf Hunter’s mog and forcing me to carry him without eyebrows. 
There are exceptions for helms. I’ve seen some very well made helms, but they’re rare and far between sadly.

You’re complaining about something that I have to mod games to get.
My horns/ears don’t magically vanish when I put a helmet on. Squashing them sounds awfully painful.

I mean it is much easier for one to flatten their ears to their head, than it is to have to drill holes into helmets for the poor horned folk

They can bleach your hair, grow hair, cut hair, add mechanical extensions (mechagnomes), add horns, cut horns, regrow horns … it’s magic! And its … creepy!
Well first you take a plasma cutter and chop the helmet in half. Then, get on the drill press and make a big enough circle for the horns. Then, put both halves on your head, and have another person weld them back together.
Simple, right?

uh…no. you dont become a furry from watching a mouse walking on 2 legs.
My wife is making us level up a pair of these wretched creatures. We’re in Legion at the moment, and I just picked up a horned helmet quest reward, and the horns appear to be coming directly out of my ears.

OR, just cut slots from the bottom of each side, so that you just slide the helm straight down.

Their fees can be a bit pricey, but we definitely don’t want orcs or trolls handling such precise craftsmanship.
