Please let us guarantee R5 crafts in the future

I’m so tired of having to reject orders and explain to people I can’t guarantee R5 because they added embellishments, so they have to resubmit their order as an R4. It wastes everybody’s time

The idea that I am maxed out in my profession, yet I am quite literally like a millimeter away from “guaranteeing” R5 on a craft with added embellishments AFTER I use Illustrious Insight seems so stupid

The worst part of DF crafting.

Bro I just did it before this post, and had to do it again immediately after. I’m hitting my head against a wall

I feel you. I did it for a solid year.

If I wanted to explain numbers and concepts to people with room-temperature IQ scores, I’d work in a call center. :unamused:

100% DF crafting has been a hot mess from day one.

I agree crafters who can guarantee R5 with use of their own optional reagent should be able to commit that optional reagent when accepting the order in order to pick it up. However, I don’t think R5 should be fully guaranteed without a limited reagent for most high-end crafts. One of the main flaws of the old system, and even this new system late enough in the expansion, is players getting max first cornering the crafting market. It can be hard for someone with limited gold to break in to the crafting scene at high end when someone who raced to the finish line is always a step ahead. Requiring a gated mat to guarantee R5 provides at least a little buffer from that happening, at least early and mid-way through the expansion.

The problem is there is no mat to guarantee R5 in some cases. I can only speak for jewelcrafting, but when it comes to some items, you can’t provide R5 as a guarantee. Even with Insight, it’s not a guarantee

Which items fall into this? I have not found a single Jewelcrafting item that I cannot guarantee at rank 5 with an Insight. Have you maxed out the relevant nodes in the Jewelcrafting specialization trees?

There’s profession equipment created by tailoring that my main can’t max out even with an insight.

That I can’t speak to because my tailor is not maxed to the point of being able to craft profession equipment. If that is the case, then I do think that should be changed.

But for Jewelcrafting, I’m pretty certain my JC can guarantee max rank for every recipe in the book with committing an Insight when max level mats are provided in the crafting order.

/shrug Maybe I haven’t min-maxed my equipment on that character like I should, it’s just something I notice whenever I try to craft those herbalism? alchemy? (I forget which) hats specifically.

Nice thread necro, but we’ll all be able to guarantee rank 5 periodically in TWW, inspiration will be gone.

Wish granted.

My engineer is in the same boat, can max rank anything with any combination of additional pieces that increase difficulty at the highest item level as long as every (or almost every) material is max quality.

I can’t rule out the possibility that different professions have different max crafts. My tailor and blacksmith are both nowhere near max so I can’t speak for them. But for all the other crafting professions, I have those maxed out and cannot think of a single recipe where I can’t ensure rank 5 crafts with Insight (and additional Enchanting tomfoolery that isn’t random).

I prefer inspiration. I’m not super happy with this change, mainly because you can save up the mats to craft an insight and use it whenever you want. This new time-gated business means that you’re losing Rank 5 crafts if you don’t use them immediately and let them start regenerating.

Yes, inspiration is my winner too. This concentration thingy will make rank 5 crafts more rare which means more expensive for buyer.
