Please let us do ALL professions on any toon!

I have wanted this option for so long, the whole idea is starting to grow a long, grey beard.

After going back to playing ESO for a while, I was reminded how convenient it is to have the option to work on any craft on a single character. While ESO structures its upgrading differently (and in a way I don’t particularly like) it seems to experience no issues with any character having access to all professions.

Surely Blizzard could institute this and, if nothing else, it would have to reduce their server load because the need to create alts to cover all the professions would be significantly reduced.

Blizzard, as an old, tired lady gamer who has subscribed to your game for 9 years, this is in my small bucket list. Please me this old girl happy.

Blizzard is unlikely to make major core changes to “the best-selling MMO in the history of…history”. There is no REASON to change.

Ever since 2004 there have been plenty of players who want a different core design. But there are millions of players, each with a different opinion. It is not possible for Blizzard to “do what each wants”, since we all differ.

I played ESO, and of course I did crafting there. I ended up using multiple alts: it was difficult to advance ALL of the professions on 1 character. It’s been a couple years, but I think ESO had points I could put into professions OR into battle skills. And I did not have enough points to max out ALL professions on 1 character, like you are talking about — and still have good battle skillx

Since we don’t have the point structure of ESO that would not be an issue for WoW.

And frankly, Blizzard can change anything in the game they wish to, it’s their software. They can make new races, they can alter classes…frequently… I doubt it would be very difficult to remove the bar which only allows us to do a certain number of professions.

And I’m not sure what you mean by “major core”.

I think the point is that an WoW, you are limited to two primary professions. In ESO, you can train all of the professions, but the points system prevents you from “capping” all of the professions.

To put it another way, if Blizzard allowed you to train all of the professions in WoW like you can in ESO, you would still be limited to two primary professions from the current tier of content. All of the other professions could only be learned as high as WoD or Legion.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t make any sense to me. There is no logical reason why we couldn’t learn all of the professions to cap on any toon. It would still require a lot of work and time - you’d need to level them up, gather mats for all the various proffs and its likely they would put some degree of ‘slow down’ to ensure that you tend to focus on particular ones that you need at any time.

Anyhow, its all moot since it’s not likely to happen. I wish it would but wishes aren’t something you can put your money down on.

Sorry, never played ESO and probably making too many assumptions about how the point system works.

Only takes 6 characters to have all of the professions. I just wish you could transfer a profession from one character to another as I feel that some races/classes fare better at gathering.

Oh yea, you could have a bag space problem if you’d have more than 2 professions per toon. Or Wow could go the Diablo 3 route with a common cache.

Or the ESO method of the enormous crafting materials storage. In ESO’s case, its only available to subscribed players but what happens is that whenever you gather or collect any crafting material it is automatically shunted into crafting storage and its basically unlimited in size (it may have a limit, I’ve just never reached it and I’ve had hundreds of separate items in mine). If you use it to make something it automatically comes out. If you want to sell a material, you transfer it from the storage to your normal bag. Its a beautiful idea.

Open professions works fine in games like eve. my industrial char makes it all there.

How much can you do? How much do want to pay for skills and train them up is the answer lol.

I do miss it. This alchemist has fabric. Hit the mail box to the tailor…sigh.

Also with many crossover recipes it grows irksome to hit the ah as I have to if no say skinner on the side for leather mat needs.

One could say well it keeps the ah flowing. Eve markets still flow with open professions. Many timesI was lazy , making something called a t2 ship. T2 means tech 2. It uses special t2 sub components.

I could make these components as well but I just bought off the market since easier sometimes lol. So the ah would be fine imo. people will always be lazy at least once in a while lol.

I have read this and gave a thought to it but I can’t get any further to nonsense. The way wow is made, the lore, the profession all the way now… It not only seems nonsense to believe in the idea of an option of all professions available but also outrageous. I couldn’t think of a wow that way and actually, I don’t think wow has any slightest idea of this. Don’t get me wrong, this can work and surely does in other games, but I’m pretty sure I definitely won’t in wow.

FFXIV has the same feature of having all crafting proffs and “classes” on one toon. i dont see why we cant at least have all gathering proffs on one toon
