Implementing the PvP passive Unbound Freedom as a baseline ability would already go a long way. Then giving BoF either 2 charges or lowering its cooldown.
Yes yes.
Replace Divine Steed with Clemency, make clemency apply to Divine Steed.
Congrats! You made us better with only one talent.
And it also make us use the utility we’re so spoken about been used more.
Cata ret was my absolute favorite. (Probably because I’ve played since BC but skipped Wrath…)
I had some ideas for changes a while back, including mobility. The general direction I would like to see for improvements are:
Divine Steed now suppresses slows and snares over its duration.
Emancipate re-added baseline.
For talents, remove the current Tier 2/Level 25 talents, moving Empyrean Power baseline.
Replace this tier with talents dedicated to mobility skills:
Pursuit of Justice as it was in WoD.
Long Arm of the Law, re-tuned with the current iteration of Judgment in mind.
Turalyon’s Might as it was in Legion alpha, or perhaps as a leap that applies Consecration at the location for a few seconds. 30 second cooldown, replaces Divine Steed.
Worst case scenario, Cavalier can be moved to this tier.
Cavalier should be baseline if we keep this piss poor mobility they’re trying to push.
I can’t play the game without 2 charges of divine steed because it’s so horrible to only have one.
Well that is just an option for the over all changes. Mobility would still be buffed, with Divine Steed capable of functioning on its own, the return of Emancipate, and a talent tier dedicated to improving mobility options further. We wouldn’t be sacrificing utility or defenses for mobility, either.
Honestly, I think Ret cleanse should be able to hit magic effects as well, I think that would be more beneficial to ret PVP than Emancipate.
The most ideal thing I would like is old Long Arm of the Law back as well as old Seal of Justice… just bring the seals back, period.
Why u think I don’t care for an “high elf” horde paladin? My two main classes are shaman and paladin and paladin doesn’t seem to change much mobility wise.
Please save me
Stop crying about mobility. Eveytime I see one of this threads I just think “Ret Paladins don’t want to have any sort of weakness”.
The only caster that can kite you are mages, but Shadow priests and warlocks have no way to scape in a 1v1 scenario.
Warlocks can’t kite ret? you obviously never fought any with any skill. Besides they’re one of the tankiest classes in pvp and Destruction locks can nuke you in a matter of seconds(and this was before all the corruption nonsense) So they don’t even need to kite you for long.
Right but Ret has to have an overbearing crippling weakness.
Then what is rogues weakness? cause they have invulnerablities too(on shorter CDs and stealth). Self healing that is arguably better than rets. Far better crowd control and mobility. They even have bettter range damage than ret and a spammable ranged snare. Oh and rogues burst damage is up there as well.
So again, what’s their weakness supposed to be. Or is it that Just ret should have crippling weaknesses.
That’s another story. Destro locks need to be nerfed. We all agree on that. Their AZ trait that gives them an insane amount of haste needs to be removed and never come back. Plus, they have a pvp talent that roots you when they cast conflagrate, it has to be removed as well. Destro does not need roots when they have 3 schools of magic. Also, I agree, nerf assa rogues as well. With all the cc and tools they have, a 30% self healing with 30s cd is too much.
That’s a ranged problem. Ranged mobility got gutted in legion, and kiting has been on its deathbed ever since. From cata to WoD ret was very mobile (and also had much more healing) so it shouldn’t be difficult to understand why people don’t like how it is now.
Weakness? Lol.
The only strengths we have are burst damage and into melee cleave because we’ll use divine storm.
But, our strong burst is coming from a 2min cd wings that screams use anything to outplay me when you use it so you get dh stun into disarm into blur and then they completely negated your wings.
Our biggest weakness has always been casters. We’re literally garbage and have no tools against that and they always use things like fear, root, mc, chaos bolt, gpie, poly, cyclone and we have no short consistent stun cd or ranged kick, so we’re controlled but have no mobility to get back to them quick enough to react.
We always have only 1 “short” defensive against magic damage and that’s shield of vengeance on 2min cd and explode in 4seconds most of the time. And you wont even hit people with the explosion because the rogue will auto attack you, slow you from poison and kite while spamming /spite emote. Or get feared during it. And modern wow has more specs doing magic damage or ignoring armor (bleeds) than doing pure physical so eye for an eye talent is pure garbage in its current iteration, bop is only used as a trinket for healers but it’s 5min cd.
The only tool we have against casters is blessing of sanc but doesnt affect poly, clone and traps, the best ccs in the game.
We have 0 cc, 0 mobility, our defensives are a damn joke in 2020, our hybrid self healing is among the worst healing in the game with enhance and we’re the hybrids specs, while the pure dps specs are doing more healing than us. Armor is meaningless. No way to avoid getting cc, no tools against casters.
Ret is a damn joke.
This one of the biggest problems IMO with Ret, is having so much damage being locked into just one CD. Because the problem is many lower skilled people, or just ones who get caught out and forget, will get destoryed during wings if they don’t counter it. And of course this leads to a lot of cheap victories and complaints.
i too hate holy power…
wish theyd just give us back cooldowns based rotation
they did for shammys
Now that I’m back after a couple weeks forum vacation over an innocent joke (lol forum mods) I would like to point out that if nothing changes, at least make Unbound Freedom baseline for ret as a spec perk.
No they didn’t, Enhancement still has a points based resourse system. The main difference between maelstrom weapon and holy power is maelstrom weapon is RNG based generation, rather than being guaranteed generation.
Pick up a giant 2hand sword and start running chief, tell me how fast you run.
We’re all wearing enchanted armor that massively increases our strength, that sword also massively increases our strength… We’re all basically wearing power armor, my dude.
Additionally: Magic.
