Please kill Anduin in Shadowlands

Simply put he is a narrative blackhole. The story has to bend over backwards and contort to fit his ideals and views, to the point that all the characters around him are written borderline OOC.

Please just let him die in Shadowlands or get stuck there (basically making him dead). I am so tired of the Alliance story being held hostage by the Wrynn family.

And no, I don’t want a warmonger leader who will take the fight to the Horde, that isn’t why I want Anduin dead, I want him gone because the story with him as the leader of the Alliance is just nonsensical and you have to have so much suspension of disbelief to follow the story that it just makes me lose brain cells.

“I don’t like this character so lets kill them off instead of actual story telling and possible growth”

Examples?

He’s their King. That’s how the Kings go. You do realize without him, you’ll get the zealot, right?

Examples?

King Anduin is great and will hopefully be restored as a leader in Shadowlands, I’m sorry that you feel this way.

I hope you’re able to curb your inner anger… I know it’s hard for you folks.

Don’t kill, maim his spirit.

He needs to grow up fast!
Honestly, his diplomacy skills are great but he needs to graduate from diplomat (everybody hates the diplomat) to a king that can command respect. He needs to be sadder and wiser but still a believer.

This won’t happen because Anduin is Blizzard’s golden boy who can do no wrong and is always right. No one at 18 is ALWAYS right!

The entirety of the Siege on Lordaeron? That whole thing was so OOC it was insane. Seriously, they walked into the throne room expecting to ask Sylvanas, who just committed genocide, to surrender? Okay… They should have gone in there and Genn try to rip her head off and Alleria turn her into a pincushion. But nah, let’s listen to Anduin monologue and look cool as he stands up to Sylvanas as she walks within a foot of him…

Or how about after the Battle of Dazar’alor? The Alliance could have ENDED the war by pressing the attack, but because Anduin thinks “they would be no better than Sylvanas doing that” the rest of the Alliance just goes along with that? What kind of nonsense is that??

Or how about the fact that the entire Alliance is following an 18 year old with NO military experience during a war… just because his daddy was the High King. The High King position isn’t hereditary it is was given to Varian by the rest of the Alliance, it should not have defaulted to Anduin. But again Blizzard has to write everyone as incompetent and follow Anduin because he has to be right.

So you want to murder them? Alliance were the ones that thought a monarchy was so great. So you put a 19 year old on the throne after he just lost his father and you all expect him to be perfect with the threat of murder if he’s not developing fast enough for you?

Ya’ll would be lazy writers

As long as Banshee Queen goes down with him.

Him being killed is the only way to remove the Wrynn taint from the Alliance. Blizzard will find a way to force the story to fit Anduin’s views if he is still around, that is the issue. And I never liked the monarchy. Ever. I hated that Varian was given the title of High King, and hated it EVEN MORE once it defaulted to Anduin. I have never seen more nonsense in my life than an 18 year old leading an entire faction’s army… just wow.

Blizzard isn’t going to develop Anduin, every decision he makes is miraculously right. No matter what. You can’t develop a character if they don’t have flaws , make the wrong decisions, and the story always makes you right and bends to your ideals.

That’s extremely incorrect. And he’s even talked about his own screw ups.

Yes. Because that’s what you do when you’re trying to not start a huge world war.

That would have never happened. Please see her abilities during the beginning of that siege and in Legion. They’re not stupid. They know that route wouldn’t have worked.

… you must be young.

Incorrect. He’s been getting training for roughly a decade now and has Genn and other advisors for a reason. You’d know this if you read the books and actually paid attention to his character.

Let me guess… you also think Illidan is a terrible character now that he’s not the dead raid boss villain.

I believe you have the wrong idea, Anduin doesn’t really affect the story. He will appear and then disappear.

Most of the control has been with Shaw, Genn, Halford, and Jania. The Wrynns just give us the keys for stuff.

He brought an army to undercity with no protection from the blight

Again, you are completely and entirely wrong.

Really where? Cause every decision he’s made has not had a single consequence that he has had to own up to.

Are you serious? Sylvanas already started the world war… Hello, she just burned down Teldrassil.

All the more reason they not let her near Anduin… But they gotta make Anduin look cool and strong standing up to the evil Banshee Queen.

What does that have to do with anything? I am almost 30… what I said there was true. The Alliance could have won the war, they said they were within weeks of winning if they pressed the attack and Anduin says no because it would make them no better than Sylvanas which isn’t remotely true she committed genocide.

I’ll give you that he may have learned stuff from Genn and crew, but that still does not make him remotely qualified to run the Alliance when you have people like Muradin, Tyrande, Shandris, any Draenei that’s been around 25k+ years.

Please don’t, I’ve seen this character grow from a small boy With hopes and dreams to a young man who strives for peace in a world that seems hel bent on tearing itself apart and doing the bad guys job for them.

See now I actually LIKE this about Anduin. I think he is a great character that conflicts with the whole war aspect of WoW. His goals are noble.

However, the issue is Blizzard put Anduin as the head of the Alliance so now the story has to follow his views and ideals and fit HIS narrative. It is so forced and nonsensical. Imagine this:

Muradin is High King, he knows the Alliance has to go to war and win at any cost because the Horde just can’t be trusted. Many of the Alliance and its leaders follow Muradin and agree with his views.

However, you have Anduin working from behind the scenes trying to form peace. This is where we see him messaging Baine, and then releasing Saurfang from prison to help reach his goal of stopping Sylvanas to make peace with the Horde.

That would have been a much more compelling story, and made more sense because it writes the Alliance as logically wanting to fight the war to beat the Horde while Anduin thinks we should be trying to seek peace. Instead we got the entire Alliance just be Anduin bootlickers that fall in line with his beliefs because he is High King even though it doesn’t make sense for half of them to fall in line.

Some of you have a real unhealthy obsession and hate for Anduin.

It’s so charming when people believe one simple fix can make the writing better.

Not sure why people want to kill off the main characters in the story. Blizzard does a number on them already. Between Blizzard and if players got their way, there will not be anyone left.

Literally every decision he’s made has had consequences.

The Nelves, the tree, his troops at Lordaeron, his decisions in Pandaria… try listening to the conversations some time.

I am. But you’re not. You’re just in some sort of blind rage. Sylvanas absolutely started stuff. But a logical world leader isn’t going to make it worse.

It has everything to do with this. Because you’re not seeing this through enough maturity and wisdom. You’re not seeing it through the eyes of a king nor as a writer. Just a young fan of a video game. Therein lies the difference.

Actually it does. Welcome to kings.

You do know he spent years training with Velen, yes? And he always takes advisement from his other leaders. Anduin doesn’t do things on his own. We just don’t see the closed door meetings.

You need to take a step back and see the larger picture. Maybe read some of the books, as well.
