I 100% agree, Aggrend or any devs, please consider support after SOD is over for PVP enthusiast, much luv
PvP has needed some love for a while now. I think the last thing we got was the new BM stuff? These threads always devolve into crying about balance (which admittedly is not amazing in SOD) but I think what the game really needs more than anything is incentives and rewards for PvP. Griefing/ganking in the open world is not enough to support a community.
AB is on it’s way out. WSG and AV are dead. It’s really sad to see these classic BG’s empty as they’re an essential part of Classic PvP. I understand that PvE balance has been the focus of SOD’s tuning but it takes about 30 seconds scrolling this forum to see that there’s a lot of people that love PvP and frankly SOD supported them in the beginning with the Ashenvale event, Blood Moon and even BRM.
Lastly complaining about balance is kind of pointless when there’s nothing to balance for. Oh you lost a duel? You got hard countered in an AB? No one cares without content to balance for. Get people PvPing again and the devs will be able to justify paying attention to balance.
Mostly just posting here to show support <3
I got to admit, the lack of PvP this phase has left me wondering for the first time since the start if I want to pause my subscription on May 4th. I haven’t even felt like touching SE more than once.
Hell my last BM there was nobody around but our team and the boss was just dead for no reason. BM and BRM were definitely the peak of excitement for me.
I second this sentiment. I’m mainly a pvper. Generally loathe doing any pve when it’s necessary to pvp. I love sod. I want sod to continue. PvP as was mentioned is barely hanging on. Ranking feels daunting with the long queues and lack of variety. PvE is also daunting when it’s necessary to compete. I think the queue anywhere idea is a good solution, but we may need more. Not sure what more could be done but I am hoping that sod continues, and solutions are provided.
Pvper here. I’ve given up hope that blizzard will give us anything though…
Phase 8 didnt bring new subs, SOD is done and wont have new content.
More than just queue from anywhere, but put you back in the world where you took queue.
1 quest that turns ab tokens into a supply box would be enough to prolong pvp. Can make a weekly or daily if concern for abuse.
Economic rewards from BG marks would keep a core group playing BGs for a long time. Would help fund alts and cost of consumes.
bloodmoon could be extended in similar way with a daily quest or with a ridiculously costly chase cosmetic/toy item. Could make the weekends give additional coins. That plus keep khadamu aura on his death would keep bloodmoon alive.
Blackrock mountain could be the new to pvp / alt ranking spot if honor gains were increased even further.
Que from anywhere would make bgs extremely popular
There’s so many easy things they can do to make PvP pop off until Classic+ in 1-2 years
- New PvP set/weapons with R15, just re-color the R13 sets if you have to those sets already look good.
- New PvP event or even just add a BUNCH of new rewards to Blood Moon + like 5 new mounts.
- Make BG marks of honor able to purchase consumables like FAPs, LAPs, LIPs, Flasks, etc.
- Skirmish Arenas with 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 modes. This wouldn’t have any rewards but would be a fun way for people to flex and show off their gear/rune builds.
- Rated BGs with a bunch of cosmetic rewards.
- Allow BG Qing from anywhere.
None of this would require a bunch of development time / resources at all. There’s no reason why SOD shouldn’t be thriving all the way till Classic+ or the next “season” of Classic. A lot of us don’t and won’t play bare bones Classic WoW or TBC again, myself included. Been there done that.
Yeah im not even going to play mop. SoD is where im staying until classic +
Battle royale bg? Drop in naked, look for loot/fight for last one standing? New map obviously. Just a thought
if there is hesitancy on the dev side for any pvp changes due to lack of participation, I will say tossing the pvp community a few bones goes a long way and pvp has an outsized impact relative to its #'s.
Even if the numbers don’t show each week for active pvp, pvp has an outsize impact on the game. there’s a number of people who are in my raid who don’t actively pvp as much, but love to when the incentives line up for it. There’s tons of people like myself who engage with pve frequently bc of the role pve gear plays in classic wow pvp. Sod pvp is what drove me towards higher end pve. I do pve more consistently some weeks but pvp is my primary concern.
Additionally, some of the most dedicated wow players are the ones who pvp. many streamers and high end players have pvp inclinations. While its surely a mess to balance with lots of emotions and less readily interpreted hard data, PVP being supported can act as a “halo effect” towards other aspects of the game.
Sending sod into the future with a few additional pvp support mechanisms in place will demonstrate goodwill with the pvp community for classic+. having goodwill in a gaming community is extremely hard to earn but can make the difference especially during launches of new projects.
