I don’t understand why other players who want to enjoy PvP have to suffer long wait times due to a shortage of healers. (I mean SOLO SHUFFLE)The idea that healers are essential for PvP is an outdated stereotype.
Please Introduce new modes that solve the long queue times and stop forcing players to rely on healers.
The only way I could see a pvp game mode that doesn’t “require” healers is maybe something completely new, objective-based mode something like overwatch/rivals. Capture the point/escort the payload type gameplay, Maybe.
There’s just no way you could do it any way else in the current game format. Not that I can think of. Solo q 2v2 or 3v3 with all dps would get stale reaaaaal quick. Games over way too fast. Dps specs are designed with the intention of there being a healer (and tank, in pve) present while doing group content.
They need to just do away with the round robin nature of solo shuffle and make it a single round format. This would solve multiple problems:
Queue times. Instead of healers being stuck in ~20min lobbies, they’re doing <5min lobbies.
Toxicity. Round robin uniquely fosters toxicity because people flame each other in subsequent lobbies, and target down the perceived weak link in every game. One round fixes this.
Additionally IMO transition from extreme dampening to extreme mana penalty. Same truncating effect, less unenjoyable for healers, means more healers queuing.
Comps that rely on doing clean gos & cc vs melee zug zug are at a disadvantage
Someone doesn’t press a major defensive, round just ends, woo!
1 round or 6, healers do not enjoy playing the game. “Eat 1 piece of dog doodoo instead of 6!” Yeah I’m not eating the dog doodoo lmao.
How is this less unenjoyable? Wouldn’t that just make mages super op in the bracket because they’re the only ones that can make food you can use? Mana issue arises and oop shadowmeld rdruid 500 yards away, fun
eg 2k war queues up and gets paired with another 2k war, the matchmaking then finds two other mirrored dps specs within a +/- 200 mmr, say a pair of 1950 ret paladins, and they play out two shuffled rounds
instant queues for 95%+ of the ladder, perfectly balanced, retail kits are so full of self-sustain nothing is gimped and even if it is it will have to face it’s gimped self; don’t pair rogues and druids, 15s sight spawn
if you’ve ever queued rogue/mage 2s into another rogue/mage at duelist+ mmr, you know this is every bit as skill-based as 3s and doesn’t require anyone to play a pve support role
ggs tho they aren’t going to do anything new until it’s years too late and arena players blindly refuse anything that isn’t the 3s model they are used to
Today you are bothered by healers, tomorrow you are bothered by damage dealers who protect their partners in every possible way, showing team play.
It is interesting how everything returns to where it all started, before solo some players did not like that the arena needed a team, but they themselves did not know how/did not want to play in a team, and now healers do not want to heal these players solo and do not want to play at all, because there is nothing else to play.
Match-ups would be so randomized that they would be statistically irrelevant in terms of people reaching the MMR they belong at.
As opposed to now when almost everyone was playing disc before this patch, and mglad non-disc healers were 0-6ing against fotm rerollers?
As opposed to now when the round robin format naturally disadvantages healer MMR for various reasons? I’ll gladly take a quick loss where I can go next as opposed to 20min of a lobby with a 0-6 DPS where I’m fighting to minimize my losses rather than make gains.
Because it gives healers more agency. Drinks can be further restricted to ensure mages, earthen, and nelves aren’t a problem.
Then RNG gives you that same 0-6 dps 6 times in a row and you’re back on forums calling form Blizz to rework again.
While there’s times this is true… I feel like most the time people say this to not acknowledge their own fault in the match. We’re not all stuck at the same CR/MMR because the better players are finding ways to win with that “0-6” player most people just chalk up to an insta loss with.
Also, There’s obviously not a lot of skill expression in RSS, but being able to asses the situation and adapt to the map and players is a way to show it and that can’t be done in a single que… it’s just go again and hope you don’t get that guy you think is unwinnable with.
Anyways, Boltinqt is right, imo. Ideas like this just swap some problems for different problems.
No one said there aren’t flaws in any given idea. Just that the fast queues of one round lobbies would be preferable to the lengthy round robin queues.
The proper way to defend a take isn’t to go “well rn it’s blah blah”
Much of what you said is simply shifting the problem, not resolving it. The exact same situations occur. Healers have instant qs any time they wanna play, 1 round or 6 is irrelevant. Tbh 1 round would make me MORE annoyed if I lost to some dps not pressing a defensive, or healer not using something.
At least in a 6 round format (or more than 1 round) I can try to come back from that mistake made by my team. 1 round and I just go “lol literally just lost rating with 0 chance to do anything”.
Anyway, your ideas aren’t bad. I just don’t think they resolve the issues the way you think
If you are of the lottery mindset, sure. We already have a que and hope mode. It’s called BGB. I’d prefer to have the opportunity to adapt to the situation and players in it to overcome.
I automatically tune out anyone who thinks Blitz is a lottery and all the good players just randomly streak it to the top end every time, while others cry about being stuck 1400.
I automatically tune out anyone who thinks the guy afk at a base every game on a 10+ win streak isn’t winning a lottery… but either way… you’re jus ttrying to find a way to dismiss the flaws in your logic… so I’ll cya later then.
