I recently got a Teebu’s Scorching Straight Sword from a world drop, and rather than sell it, thought it would look cool with my transmog. Warlocks can use swords so I didn’t anticipate any problems. I play every class at 120 and haven’t really run into any major transmog issues before (though I’m sure annoyances exist for other classes).
Unfortunately, whereas melee classes can typically xmog lots of things into swords without issues, warlocks can only xmog wands into wands, and daggers into daggers. To actually use the Teebu’s sword, i have to have an actual sword equipped, and there havent been any caster weapons that are swords from the first two raids. Generally they seem pretty rare. So now, I’m basically stuck with a very expensive sword just sitting in my bank not doing anything, soulbound. It’s a bit of a bummer.
I guess I wonder why this strictness is necessary. Why even allow warlocks the ability to use swords if functionally we can’t transmog them? I probably wasnt the first, and won’t be the last, Warlock to make this expensive error, and needlessly tie up a GM with a ticket. A common sense change here would be good for both players and Blizzard.
At the very least, it would be nice if caster swords were a once per raid thing, then it wouldn’t be as big a deal. Ideally though, an overhaul to make the xmog system more permissive would likely be a welcome change for most players.

I’m always in favor of more transmog options.

Can you include mages too? <3
just replace every wand in the game with a caster sword and call it a day.

That’s just transmog restrictions in general. No one can transmog a dagger into a sword, nor a wand into anything but another wand.
Except wands…
When casters get a wand, they can’t even transmog it into their legion artifact appearance…
If your not using a scythe or the sentient skull of an ancient warlock you are warlocking wrong!
imagine if you couldn’t mog glaives to 1 handers or 1 handers to glaives and you’ll know what it feels like to be a caster that uses a wand.

Side point, every time I wand something on accident for 92 damage while trying to target and cast, I’ve never thought “well, that was worth a 2 second spell lockout.” Wands are painful and make the game less fun. I’ve actually spent time looking for addons to disable right click because it is so bad.

they’re completely pointless and exist only to troll casters at this point. i’ve never thought “wow this is a great looking wand i can’t wait for a drop to mog it!” and i seriously doubt most other people who can equip them do that either.

I remember getting a huge ilvl upgrade wand from a raid only to not have an offhand to go with it…
i went through that earlier on my main. 370 wand and i had to run lfr for a 340 oh and was happy to get it. as the staff he was using was only 345. from warfronts i mean.
