blizzard did in fact create megaservers.
at launch servers were original vanilla caps of around 3000 players, when full with outstanding queues to even get in blizzard elected to slowroll additional servers to ensure community success and to prevent mergers down the road from collapsing servers.
INSTEAD OF, adding 50 additional servers to accommodate everyone who wanted to play they added 6, super slow rolled them at that, and upped caps to 10000+ players. that is by definition, a mega server created by blizzard. there were no other server choices, i tried so hard to do PvP east, and my only choice was incendius, a super loaded server, and I had to wait for netherwind to come about. i made level 10 alt all on a pve server the way until netherwinds release, then remade a toon on netherwind when it was finally released.
people are not obligated to reroll on a lower population server, nor are they forced to pay for what should be a fulfillment of a promised #nochanges vanilla experience. which was a failure on blizzards end.
so yes, since blizzard has already decided to give us changes, that should get thrown out the window, and we should make corresponding server changes to make the game playable and manageable, that means herbs/mining/collection to the point where everyone can be self sufficient if they so chose, to align with vanilla.
please, by all means, show me a less than 3000 player population server pvp east that i can pay to transfer too, oh wait, they’re all 100% faction one way or the other. or over 6000+ megas.
by the way, ectoplasmic distiller was a feature all throughout vanilla and utilized by top guilds, blizzard gave us that change and removed it for us. theres all the evidence you need to see blizzard is doing whatever they feel like, not whatever is right.
