Please include more social rules and adjustments for LGBT and Minority Communities

I’ve learned the ultimate hack to prevent people from targeting me for my sexuality in game

Do you want to know my secret??

Ok… here it is:

I don’t tell people in a video game about my sexuality

I don’t either, but it’s the subtle clues like saying my boyfriend or husband if your a man. That’s when the trolls come out and start to harass.

More rules and social rules in the agreement that bans any derogatory language in chat just as an example.

Id like a smoking section for WoW so i can play the game with other people who hang out in the smoking section of the game so we dont have to worry about non-smokers ruining all our fun

this is why indoor smoking needs to be brought back along with a smoking section for WoW

I’m well aware this is likely a troll post, but for anyone thinking this is actually going to help; you’re very wrong. When people feel overly restricted in what they can and can’t say or how they can express themselves, they find alternative ways to do it (often highly passive aggressive ways). They would literally be making the toxicity worse, just through different mechanisms. They have done it for ages in League of Legends, which is VERY restrictive on what you can and can’t say/do, and they will do the same here.

I feel really bad for the 29 people who liked your post thinking you were actually for them. You are snide and deceptive, misleading people while making them think you lead them. People actually want and need the very stuff you are constantly and mockingly pretending to support, yet also give subtle mocking insults while you do. This is abhorrent behavior.

I have a semi-off topic question for you. Unless by minority group you mean Tauren Priests, how does anyone know you are a minority or what your orientation is? I have never asked anyone in game who they prefer to date. I vastly prefer they not volunteer that information as it is immaterial to playing the game.

It’s people like you who make the community toxic.

Exactly. People care more about your raiding/m+ availability or whether you can perform well with your class. And if that’s not what you’re looking for, then there’s plenty of guilds that advertise themselves as mature and who do not tolerate this kind of behavior. It just requires curation and reading through the history to get a sense of whether their values align with yours. If all else fails, there are servers that have a reputation for being more inclusive as well.

Forgive me to not read 470 + messages, will take too long ^^.

take a look at the new social rules

  • Hate speech, including negative comments that target another player’s identity, including aspects like race, gender, or ability
  • Harassment, threats, or abusive / derogatory language and behaviors
  • Spamming, advertising, or other disruptive behaviors
  • If you harm your fellow adventurers with any of the above behaviors, you are subject to punishment up to and including suspension of your account.

I don’t see why they should include anything more for a specific minority: Someone has a hate speech against a LGBT player or is harrassing him?
Just take a screen and send it to a GM.
As it’s a violation of their new social rules, the player in question will be punished.

There is simply no need to ask more.

Yeah, that.

Why would you “explain” to someone that you are “trans” on the INTERNET? You might feel you have to explain in real life, but why even mention it in the game? I think of being trans as seeing yourself as the sex you were not originally designated as at birth, so it seems that the Internet would be the perfect place to be whatever you want!

Enjoy your slippery slope and safe spaces that don’t actually exist. No one is actually able to hurt you in this game. Cringey.

Oh, he’s a really bad BAD person. He’s doing what most Gay, Trans, and NB find abhorrent, Outing them and shining the public spotlight on them.

He is openly mocking them.

This is a fabrication, making up junk and claim it’s a legit rebuttal, just awful.

Yes we pull from what we know when creating a fantasy world. Adding something familiar is a good thing. After time we begin to love some of these created worlds and they stand the test of time. WoW of course is one of them.

As is it’s a great game for anyone, why should any group or idea need to be represented at this point? It has nothing to do with if I identify or like or dislike LGBTQ, it’s why now, what about WoW that is just fine as is needs to include/ represent specifically LGBTQ?

And if they did decide to include lets say pride week as a holiday in WoW, would you be okay if they called it something else like they do with all the other holidays that reflect the real? No mention of being gay or trans just toss rainbows over people’s heads and spam Ook Ook in the Stormstout Brewery for some special trinkets or toys?

That has not been my experience. During CATA the raid leaders I ran with were very openly gay. Often one would get drunk and start to say some graphic things if you know what I mean. Yet no one was bothered by it because we are there to raid and play a game. The few personal things that came out never raised an issue.

I suppose in a random group you may find a few that take offence, but hey that’s why we have to option to form groups with people we call friends or at least that stay civil. Nothing special about LGBTQ when it comes to harassment, anyone can get that, so deal with it or leave group and find others to play with.

What if I told you player get banned from the game if they continue to find ways to circumvent their behavior?

You mean like posting on alt accounts to avoid forum punishments?
