There was a lot of feedback on the beta about Fleshcraft not being a great signature covenant ability. This continues to hold true on live and I really hope the devs will make some improvements to this ability.
When you compare it to the mobility of soulshape, flexibility of Door of Shadows, and the utility of the Kyrian vial, Fleshcraft is just not a great ability.
The shield is nice theory, but no encounter is going to be designed where it’s a requirement for survival because not everyone will have it. Therefore it’ll be less desirable than the other abilities in 99% of situations.
The absorb isn’t even that strong, especially if you’re using it without elite corpses.
Having the 4 second cast with a 2min CD is another detriment. It’s way too long for what it is and makes it undesirable to cast in combat. Outside of combat, you’re either left behind or have to hold up your group as you stand still to channel it over corpses for 4 seconds. Might not sound long, but in practice it feels like an eternity, especially on classes with low mobility.
While I don’t deny that it has its niche uses, it’s just not a fun ability that I look forward to pressing, especially compared to the alternatives. It would be nice if we at least had an option to trade in some/all of the absorb value for a sprint/charge/teleport with either a lower/removed channel or not having to use a specific soulbind to cast it on the move.
tl;dr
The ability is not fun or particularly effective in most content. Please bring it inline with the other covenants in those regards, preferably with a mobility effect.

They can start by removing the cast time .

I agree. It is not a fun button to push when in group content. ‘Hey guys, wait up!’
It’s kind of neat to push, but it also has the issue of sometimes you kill a big thing and it’s still on cooldown.
The easiest solution is no cast time or at least half cast time. I think instant cast is reasonable for a thing that has a 2 min cooldown.

If they at least shorten the cooldown significantly, that’d be okay, I guess. I think they can make something better out of it though.
I wish the warrior necrolord ability didn’t suck so bad. 3 minute cooldown for a banner the entire group is just gonna walk right out of.

Agreed. Necrolords need some help.

Honestly the worst part is the cast time for me. Interrupts your gameplay in a bad way. I definitely agree that they could do something better with it though and since it’s not a direct performance ability, I hope that they will.
Right now its only handy for open world content to help me pull a hair more aggressively.
With each piece of gear I get this is less and less important, though.
I make some attempt to use it in dungeons but the pulls are too fast, and to be honest I’m nominally decent at avoiding aoe damage, so its pretty much just there to help the healer a touch.
I’m going to give it a go in pvp next week, but I’m not too hopeful. Its just too darned clunky.
Something’s wrong when the military covenant is terrible for all dps specs but like two in the game.
I want to like Necrolords, but I don’t.

I did it for the theme and transmog. The abilities and conduits are pretty bad.

This is about the only reason I might consider them. I’m actually not even a fan of their plate transmog.
Bone wings, an abomination cat pet, and the title “Baron Dan” are the only things I’m really considering.

I thought long and hard about joining it as a warrior. Ended up joining it for the cool looks. A shame no one’s gonna take me in raids because the covenant abilities suck.
Warrior is like the best class, next to unholy death knight, lore-wise for joining this covenant. I can’t even fulfill my class/covenant fantasy without feeling bad about my decision.

As an UH DK
Necrolords should be buffed across the board
Just because they’re my best covenant for everything means nothing
On the upside, they’ll probably buff it when too many people start complaining about being excluded from content for their covenant choice.

True that. Good thing it’s only the beginning right now.
Hmmm, I am on the fence, as is Fleshcraft sucks, I wanted to like it for Prot but channeling the ability is awful, and its killed off so damn fast. Its great for pvpers that need to escape or get a shield after a stun to heal up.
For anyone else its hot garbage!
If they fix it can I change Covenant?
I don’t mind fleshcraft on my resto sham
Its not too bad to shield up on the pack your group just killed while the tank is pulling the next pack
But really I just mostly forget I have it
Honestly, in order to bring it in line with the other covenant abilities it needs to work off the gcd with no cast time. it also needs to suck the life out of corpses like our old azerite trait did. anytime you came within 10 yards it just immediatly gave you the health. give it less shield if that all would make it OP. but in its current form its in last place. by a long long shot
Warrior should of been a banner you CARRY, not plant… it’s like they completely forgot “Hey we wanted to punish turret gameplay so we’re gonna push mobility but let’s add a totem with a limited aoe buff”.
For me Fleshcraft sucks because I forget it’s a cast and wait ability so I start casting, move and ugh now it’s on cooldown.

Yeah idk what they thought when making this
I just don’t understand why the Necrolord Covenant ability is a shield and not, I dunno, raising the dead? Not even generic ghouls/skellies like Unholy DK, let me straight up rez dead enemies near me. I mean hell even an Abomination that changes based on the ‘parts’ you use to create it would be really cool, I know there’s a Soulbind that already makes one of the class abilities change based on the type of enemy corpses nearby.
