Please help VDH a tad bit

I am going to add to the topics on VDH already. Give us blur or more armor and our tattoo DR % back from where it was at 20%. VDH is a very challenging tank to do high tier content with, we take so much damage very quickly. The prot warriors were causing all the tanking issues not VDH, there was 0 reason to nerf VDH. We dont do good in pvp which is fine, and we are struggling in high tier content.

Any VDH can chime in and correct me if I am wrong.

VDH just feels bad at end game right now.

Darling, it felt bad during levelling and I’m still so very squishy at max, I’m worried about fluffing dungeons on normal. Tried to join one group for a world boss and was categorically advised: no VDH welcome.
Damn sick of almost every drop nerfing my haste - VDH needs haste, preferably 15% and upwards, imo - and I try in vain to tweak the different suggested builds.
I’ve seen Prot Paladins and Prot Warriors totally blatting stuff I can’t even tackle.

I don’t think it’s as bad as that. You have to be very methodical with your pulls and is def harder than some tanks right now. Definitely poo my pants on some pulls but still manageable. Should get a buff though for sure.

The irony in those nerfs is that prot warriors are still insanely strong…I have one and he’s become my main key pusher this season…Literally tanked a +9 as one of my first keys with 365 Ilvl…VDH could never do that.

Same on my 362 DK. Did an 8 Jade and it was a breeze compared to my better geared DH.

is really sad to say in pvp havoc is more durable and better than vengeance as tank =(

I’m 372 and tanked a +9. It’s not easy though. My thing is that I have some gaps in my defensive or having to jump into a pull while building fury for a fel dev. I feel naked on those pulls even with spikes up. I can only imagine it will feel harder later. In SL I used the DoS trinket or aegis to give me a buffer to build time for self healing etc…

I dont feel like VDH is in a good place, there are times in raid content that i just randomly flop over dead. Ofc its not random but it feels that way and ppl are like ahh get the tank up.

no trolling please

I literally feel immortal as vdh, sure vdh needs help compared to prot but it isn’t as horrible as most of you say

Who’s trolling? I’ve been dropped from groups a few times because I’m a VDH; didn’t even get to do anything. Luckily, though, larger DPS groups for Elemental Storms welcome a tank.

nobody cares at all what spec you play for a worldboss. its an “invite everything and blast” angle, thanks to open world content being so trivial that you can literally solo a worldboss as tank (although its naturally taking ages). this is nothing but blatant trolling and/or making assumptions that were never actually verified.

I have played VDH in bfa and slands. The buffs to DH on prepatch and beta was so fantastic that I was hyped on DF launch.
I played 3 tanks at max level, pwar, BDK and VDH. My pwar and my BDK ignored the entire parties and soloed the dungeons by themselves. Thus, my VDH with little more ilvl than my BDK and pwar was hyped to solo the m0 boss by itself. My S tier VDH was murdered, I rotated every possible def cds I had, and still died. I checked logs, I ate absurd amount of healing from healers in comparison to my other tanks. I ditched my beloved DH since then and never touched it again.
The funniest thing was after I ditched my VDH, blizzard, believing in some beta testers and streamers’ tier lists, nerfed the hell out of VDH then 10% DR across the board.
Lol ditching VDH, maining BDK (pwar is too boring for me to play) was the best decision I made in DF s1.

This isn’t a life or death choice. Bdk and prot are meta, there is always a meta.

You can still push with vdh

i mean hes right tho? theres always gonna be a meta. prot and bdk are really strong right now, but vdh isnt unplayable like alot of these people are suggesting

Of course there will always be a meta. And VDH is playable with the right circumstances. But based on what I’ve seen and experienced that gap between meta and VDH is absurdly large.

Anecdotally, I (and my healer) had an easier time tanking moderate keys on my 350 DK compared to my 380 DH.

VDH indeed feels bad, i highly doubt it gets proper attention. I mean they never mess with BRM why would they VDH?

While ppl were hyped by frailty systems, I dislike it. DH is a kiting tank and extremely squishy on pull, frailty is a ramping mechanics which also prevents you from kiting. On top of that soul cleave has hard cap and a small effective area, you are forced to rely on spirit bombs to spread frailty in fights with more than 5 targets, which isnt easy because of limited soul generators. While other tanks gained significant powers and great synergy, VDH’s powers feel contradicting to each others. You cant facetank but you cant kite neither.

I have been a VDH since we came to life in legion, it used to feel alot better. It feels rather clunky and yes, I agree we cannot kite and try to keep stack of frailty up. I do think i have the most luck tanking with the fiery brand build and holding demon spikes until brand runs out.

DH tanking feels super clunky/jenky, and I have periods in the Vault when I just face splat randomly. Sometimes I feel tanky, sometimes I feel like a tissue paper; it is a strange tank.
