I’ve been playing balance druid for a long time and it was my main spec in BFA. I did pretty well in BFA mythic plus dungeons and normal raids, topping dps meters in a mythic +9. After Shadowlands came out, my dps in mythic+ and Nathria is terrible. Currently i’m ilvl 197 and i’m always closer to the bottom in damage meters. It’s even gotten to the point the healer in a m+ group did better damage than i did and then told me i sucked to my face. Guildies have told me that my gear stats are off, and my versatility and haste are pretty low compared to critical strike and mastery. I haven’t been watching my stats until lately, which could be the problem. Could that be why i’m so terrible…? Please help i’m desperate!
You’re not using an offhand weapon at all it appears and you don’t have the Balance of all Things legendary which is a significant dps gain to start.

Do you understand the Eclipse System that was introduced this expansion?
Have you read guides on icyveins? I’d start there and see if you can establish the mishap first.
There’s a lot of missing information, so I’d say read the guide from icyveins and then come back with some specific questions that were brought forth

You should also be doing Torghast to earn up soul ash. It appears you have not started that.

yeah i got the one handed yesterday and equipped it since it was a significant upgrade from my 2h. i don’t have an offhand to equip it with so just pretend there’s a 187 staff there … as for the legendary that’s a good point i used to have a legendary but i had a gear upgrade and got lazy. i guess i should start there
I’m not really a fan of the new balance… it’s just not as fun as the 8.x version was. I don’t really play it outside of torghast/quests because I don’t want to do that as resto. People seem to be doing quite well with it though. A lot of your damage is going to come from convoke, are you night fae?
Past that, stats can have a large impact. If you weren’t watching your stats, just start making better picks and you’ll switch over. I think stats are even bigger right now than in past expansions, because of the squish. Even small changes have a big impact.
*Edit: Looked at your armory and I can see you’re wearing a bunch of night fae gear, so yep, you’ve got convoke

Switch out Starlord for Soul, Stellar Flare for drift in M+.
Use Balance of All Things legendary, even if it is a lower ilvl the bonus is greater.
Your stats seem fine for gear.
Just practice your “rotation” of getting stsrsurges off when entering eclipse and pooling power for the next one (with boat)
I’m not 100% sure, but having a decent mix of haste/mastery and crit is where you want to be, with mastery being a higher priority (correct if wrong).

You mentioned getting lazy, that’s definitely the wrong approach for balance atm. There’s a lot going on with the rotation and small things to consider such as pooling ap for a big pack that’s coming up next so you don’t start a big pack with no ap, and multidotting when it is needed to min max your dps around which eclipse you’re in. Check out the icyveins balance guide, get the boat legendary, use your CDs on cooldown instead of saving them for a time that feels right that may be 3 minutes down the road, and your Dps will surely go way up.
