There are many threads discussing the problem with the Korrak’s Revenge mounts, so I won’t rehash that all here. This thread is meant to be a request.
First of all, thank you to any employees involved with testing, fixing, and communicating about the recent hotfix making mounts available through the bonus objective. The fact that this fix has been implemented will hopefully keep any other players from running into the same problem and seems to be a good preventative solution. So, thanks where thanks are due - thank you for this hotfix.
Unfortunately, when the 18th anniversary event was announced, it explicitly stated that earning the Alterac Valley of Olde achievement would reward the mounts. Many of us invested hours of gameplay into grinding the necessary timewalking badges for the mount… only to find that, upon completion, no mount was awarded. With 20-30 minute queue times, 1-2 hour matches, and a limited amount of badges that can be earned per match (and most of the badge sources being limited daily), this represents a significant amount of time and effort already invested by players.
With the hotfix making the mounts a reward from a separate bonus objective rather than the achievement, the progress that everyone made has been reset. This feels bad, especially since so many of us simply followed the instructions in the initial anniversary announcement. With the criteria for earning the mounts changing two days after the event has gone live, many of us feel frustrated, deceived, and worn out on Korrak’s Revenge. It leaves something of a bad taste in the mouth regarding the anniversary event, which is a shame, because the 18th anniversary of WoW is something to be celebrated. That the game can be nearly two decades old and elicit such an impassioned response from its playerbase is a testament to its vitality.
With this in mind, please consider awarding the Stormpike Battle Ram and Frostwolf Snarler mounts to any player who had earned sufficient Timewalking Badges/the Alterac Valley of Olde achievement prior to this hotfix. Help us to enjoy the rest of the anniversary, rather than having to begrudgingly repeat a grind - or even write the event off entirely.
