Her threat table from p2 to p3 is worse than ever please do something blizzard.
My current theory is that she just wipes all threat on phase 3 periodically, which means whoever crits exactly as she drops aggro dies. Rofl.
she never drops threat between phases phase 2 fireballs is why it is random
phase 2: fireballs hit as an AOE, 1 person per fireball who is hit will lose their threat
phase 3: hope your dps lost enough threat the tank can get it back quickly
in order to tank onyxia during p3, have your offtank tank her during p1, and your main tank get to #10 or #11 on the threat table by the end of p1
if you have enough dps, which you probably will with a 25 man pug that has 4 melee dps and 6 healers if noone dies before p3, then you’ll get her down shortly after the second waves of whelps come out, at which point the main tank should not have been fireballed, and then when p3 begins the main tank can get aggro on her pretty fast
if this is pulled off correctly, then be prepared for the tank to get aggro on ony in 5-15 seconds
however, if p2 lasts for 3 waves of whelps, then both tanks will likely be fireballed multiple times
it helps to have a third tank who just gets 100 rage on p1, backs off, and then stands around for p2, if p2 is lasting for longer than 2 waves of whelps
Just use 2 tanks, easy.
Fireball reduces threat.
Get her out of the air before she even casts any Fireballs. If you can, kill her before she even takes off.
However many Fireballs go off is how many people need to be ahead of the phase 2 tank in threat by the time phase 2 ends. If no Fireballs go off, phase 1 tank also tanks phase 3 just fine. If two Fireballs go off, phase 3 tank should be in the 3rd threat position by the end of phase 2, and so on.
Most guilds run 3 tanks to make sure this doesn’t happen.
Best bet is to kill her in phase 1 so you don’t have to deal with these mechanics at all.
Plus she Deep Breaths more often.
I was targeted and hit twice in a row, so this is not right. No-one knows how it works. My guess is it’s random.
yes, as i said, one person who is hit by the fireball loses threat. fireballs are aoe each fireball that hit you most likely hit 3-6 other players also. 1 out of the 7 of u will lose threat.
They only way you could know if that’s true (and BTW I was alone when hit both times as we were spread out) or not true is if you got a look at the actual code.
I also fell under the world and died after being feared near welp cave can we fix that too
All I know is that its nice to see threads about PvE compared to all the pvp ones in this forum!
in P1 we pretty much wand / white damage her into P2.
When she goes from P2 to P3 its just a stand still until the tank can get her back. Sometimes it can take 30-60sec to get her onto the tank but when she comes down no one should be doing anything but standing around waiting for the tank to get her. It can be tough but I’ve notice healers pulling threat pretty ez trying to shoot out raid heals and stuff which in turn causes them to jump up the threat meter and die. If you take it slow its pretty tough to lose.
Immunity potions are used in my raid to drop threat when she lands.
Nobody attacks until tank says so, then we finish her
Every pug I run with basically has P1 dps be a slow crawl of wanding and auto swinging. It seems to help a lot if you have timid tanks that struggle with threat issues.
She’s totally screwed up atm. She’s whipping people standing between her legs, randomly targeting players in P2->P3 transition, and meleeing people that she is targeting with fireballs in P2 from 100 yards. I was meleed for a 3k crit while standing next to the whelp chasm. She was hovering over the OTHER whelp chasm when she hit me. If you can’t manage to fix our abilities, can you at least fix your encounters, Blizzard?
I just blow an MCP charge and get her under control pretty quickly.
how about the fact she can melee casters while flying in the air?
That’s impossible because she phases by percentage. Even with insane dps, you will still deal with phase 3 mechanics. Even with 25k raid dps (which is what the bleeding edge guilds might be doing around), she will still be able to tail swipe and breathe on the raid if she’s not picked up properly.
