Items that players had previously obtained from old expansions are ~50-60 ilvl lower than items you would get if you went back and did that content today.
The most egregious example of this is the MoP legendary cloak. They are currently ilvl 44 (lmao), and give 1 primary stat and 4 stamina. To put this into perspective, if you went and solod Siege of Org you would get a 126 cloak that gives 13 primary stat and 20 stamina.
The MoP cloaks are currently useless even in timewalking at their current item level and this needs to be changed.
Another example: It really hurts because the Azerite gear I quite literally spent months farming residuum to get at the end of BfA is 60 ilvl lower than what I would get if I went and solo’d a normal BfA dungeon today. I specifically saved these items because I worked hard for them and they mean a lot to me.
I understand they had to fix scaling but this oversight feels like such a slap in the face it’s unreal.
Ahhh I see, can’t hurt to ask. And that’s very kind of you! I actually gave away all my gold one time when I thought I was done for good. That was about two free months worth of gold I won’t see again.
New legacy Legendary items rewarded from quests or drops, such as the Warglaives of Azzinoth or Shadowmourne, have a higher item level than Legendary items that dropped prior to 10.0.5.
Developers’ notes: our goal in fixing this is to raise the item level of existing Legendary items that dropped before 10.0.5.
It applies to everything looted before they changed scaling so I hope they take the time to fix all the items not just legendaries. Probably wishful thinking though.
