Please fix Hover

Here’s a fun bit of trivia about this game’s ancient engine. If you jump, your movement is only registered by the game once you LAND. Normally very rarely a problem or even noticeable.

Here’s a less fun bit of trivia. Hover is seemingly is coded the same as simply jumping, which means if you use it to get out of lets say, a dragon’s firebreath and go hide behind it, you still die despite your model clearly being out of the AoE area.

This is infuriating and very much dampens how reactive the class feels.

Are you serious?
So for the time being, if im hover for the whole duration, the game recorded the position where i started hover, and my character remain on that position until hover ends?? Wtf

Not the whole duration of Hover, but def during the initial “lunge”.

Is it the same for other classes like when warrior or demon hunter do their huge jumps

Not sure, haven’t played either in forever.

Are you sure it isn’t a latency/FPS issue on your end? I’ve been in some DICEY situations where I’ve hovered at the last moment and gotten out of stuff. For example, 4 tornadoes about to hit me on Raszageth from the adds

Nah i’m sure, happens too consistently and i play with 30 ms.

I use hover to get out of all AoE, and I have never come across this issue.

Its more noticeable in content that oneshots you.

Wish i was a strimmer sometimes just to have vods laying around for that stuff.

I’ll keep an i out for this. This could be true, I have had this experience with my warrior as I leaped.

I wouldn’t had made this theead if i hadn’t died with my character behind a boss after a cone attack multiple times this week while pushing keys.

All movement abilities work this way and always have. They register your toon in the original spot until the ability finiahes. Jumping is different so I do not know where you got thar info.

Monk roll/chi torpedo
Warriors leap
Mages blink
Druids wild charge
Evoker hover

Most of these (except Warrior leap probably) resolve much faster than Hover though so its less of an issue.

Maybe i’m just spoiled by GW2s combat engine since that’s what i played for the past couple years.

10 years of Hunter gameplay. Test it yourself.

They all resolve at the same time. When your toon lands.

You mean disengage? Thats different than “jumping”

Also I do not even think hover is on that category, ive never been 1 shot using it. I use it to dodge ras 1 shot breath all the time.

It def is. And it def happened to me otherwise i wouldn’t be posting this.

Guess gonna have to wait for it to happe t o some strimmer/community council dude for it to change ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Never once experienced this, sounds like a YOU issue. I’ve used hover to get out of so many risky situations and close calls and it never fails me. I feel like I have a dodge button. Just try to use it better, obviously your timing is off.
