It’s an antiquated system. It serves no purpose, and discourages people from playing.
The queues are long enough, and most of the times when you get the debuff it is unwarranted. Your average player is going to vote yes just because the box pops up; when they have no real reason.
When you vonluntarily leave a dungeon because some tank just smashes through the dungeon, with no regard for the rest of the group, you now have to wait for the debuff AND wait for the queue again.
I understand where the debuff may be necessary, but 90% of the time it’s just a nuissance. Please, Microsoft, find a better solution.
My humble opinion on the matter: if there were a better solution, Blizzard would have done it by now.
Me, I wouldnt object to seeing the debuff reduced to say 10m for the first offense in a 24 hour period, going up in increments until you are locked out for anyone doing the whole crappy behaviour thing. Otherwise as long as you dont do anything wrong, I still think it happens less often than many people think. From memory I’ve been kicked from a dungeon like maybe twice in the last year. Considering how many I’ve done in that time, its a tiny proportion.
theyre clueless, that why it still exists.
The REAL troll will just alt hop and ride the timeout and keep doing what he’s doing.
The ONLY players who are really affected by this joke timeout are the ones who are trying to play legit and get kicked by kiddies for craps and giggles.
Bliz often takes years to finally figure details out for some reason.
I very rarely get kicked, and it’s usually deserved when I do. But, the times that I voluntarily leave because the group lead is just playing their own game is very frustrating.
I agree it can be. But if there were no debuff, do you think people would be more likely to drops groups because of nuisance tanks? Seeing how long queues can be for dps, I think people would continue to just put up with it to get the run done. It becomes a matter of, which is more of a pest, quitting and having to wait for a tank, or just completing the instance (and maybe putting the tank on Ignore in the hope of not getting that one again)?
someone spent X time in queue…then they do something trollish and get kicked…lets say they were actually doing something wrong…or say they didnt like the dungeon and they bailed. Well they now wasted that first queue time…and now they have to get back into queue and wait for more time…and if they repeat the process, they have to wait in queue yet again.
That is more than enough ‘punishment’ for the trolls.
and as I said…if they didnt like the dungeon and bailed…30 minutes…SO WHAT??? They’ll just fire up another character and play on it until the timer runs out.
you really cant get some of these folks to figure out the logistics here. They REALLY believe that the timeout ‘helps’…even though people are still quitting dungeons at the gate or bailing shortly after…had TWO of them just yesterday, lol.
The timeout doesnt do squat to change behavior…it just punishes those who didnt actually deserve to be kicked by the petulant kiddies for no good reason.
And thats why I’ve said that the debuff timer needs to be reassessed, down to no more than 10m for the first offense of the day. That way if people do get a crappy situation, at least they don’t need to wait all thta long. Almost always enough things to do in this game to take up 10m plus a queue time.
totally agree. I doubt many players are being unjustly kicked more than once a day anyway…if theyre being kicked multiple times a day…they likely ARE the problem.
You can’t assume that someone does “something trollish” to get kicked. Sometimes people just make a mistake. Now they are locked out for >30 minutes. It creates a bad environment on top of that because now you locked players out of the system and queues for everyone else will be even longer.
