As someone who has wanted a wearable backpack cloak since I started playing Vanilla in 2006 (one month before BC came out), and has now made it their #1 priority (before gearing or pathfinder or anything else) to get that Black Dragonscale Backpack from Wrathion before Shadowlands comes out… I would be SUPER BUMMED if that was made unpurchaseable, or Horrific Visions were removed from the game, or something else that would make that cloak unobtainable…
I’m seriously begging you Blizzard, as someone who was gone from WoW for 7+ years and only just came back recently in December 2019 to start ACTUALLY enjoying the game again… PLEASE DON’T make this a “Feat of Strength”… if you do that with the Mad World achievement, fine, but NOT THE BACKPACK CLOAK…
If you DO have plans to make Black Dragonscale Backpack unobtainable, at the VERY LEAST add another palette-swapped X-mog of the same cloak model in Shadowlands content, maybe a backpack cloak we can grind Torghast and / or explore The Maw for…
In the event that I can’t actually wear a backpack on my character in the next expansion and beyond because those cloaks are gone forever with no replacement, I will seriously consider unsubbing AGAIN… I already did so once in 2012… I don’t want to have to in 2020…
Even if the backpack vendor wasn’t removed, visions might be removed.
Which then will make it impossible to get mentos.
Oh, but they should at least give us a heads up, if they’re going to remove it.

Wait… If you’re playing now and you’re planning to get that backpack… Why not just do the grind now instead of waiting for shadowlands? If you’re doing the visions you’ll get it eventually?
Anyway, here’s to hoping that content wouldn’t be removed since they’re doing the chromie time travel leveling thing. Or imagine how awkward it would be if a new player choose to play in legion or bfa lol.
unfortunately its probably gonna be like the mop legends cloak. with the new xpac youll be unabled to access that parricular content. if i remember correctly, wrathion was also a psuedo vendor during that content too. dont quote ne i forget already since its been so long. also, on tineless if you didnt have the cloak you couldnt access that one world boss there. i dont think you can now either if you still dont have it. who knows.

I only remember getting Coalescing Visions from them.
The only daily I remember, is the one where you need to go in the lesser visions, but that might be removed.
Hard to say, I can’t confirm whether or not the cape, backpack, or mount would be removed.
There have always been very prestigious rewards like the mop cloaks, challenge sets & mounts and the legion mage tower. I feel those have been impossible to do in the later expansions because it’s like Blizz was rewarding you for sticking through the content. (The cynics would say it’s to extend your sub time. Im not sure if that is necessarily true, it might be, but I prefer thinking of the former).
On the upside, I think you can get up to 4 pages from up to rank 11 for your cloak. So there are catch-ups, but you would have to push to try to clear the lost areas. I think you can skip Thrall / Alleria though and just do the side objectives.
It shouldn’t be too hard getting the cloak eventually. I̶ ̶w̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶s̶a̶y̶ ̶o̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶’̶r̶e̶ ̶r̶a̶n̶k̶ ̶1̶2̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶1̶3̶,̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶m̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶s̶t̶o̶p̶ ̶u̶p̶g̶r̶a̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶c̶o̶r̶r̶u̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶r̶e̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶t̶o̶c̶k̶ ̶p̶i̶l̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶r̶r̶u̶p̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶m̶e̶m̶e̶n̶t̶o̶s̶.* If you do a few of them, they should accumulate rather quickly.
*Disregard, you do need to max the entire talent tree before you are eligible to buy the backpack.
Also remember that the backpack is locked behind the “We have the technology” achievement which requires you to purchase all the titan research upgrades from the little panel next to mother. According to Wowhead, the total amount for everything is 69,600 mementos so you definitely want to get started on that as soon as possible.
I’ve never understood this mentality. I love my shoes. It doesn’t matter to me that the company made thousands of them. I don’t need their to be less of my shoes to enjoy them.
Edit: actually I want there to be more of my shoes so others can enjoy them. I don’t need to feel special. Especially in a video game.
It is not hard to understand that someone likes to stay plugged to the game to get time limited stuff, only to attempt to make others feel bad because they did not play during the most grindy/worse patches.
It’s hard for me to understand. I love my death wing mount because it’s awesome. I don’t care how many other people have it. Especially when being special is virtually impossible in a game of this scope.
Until told otherwise by Blizzard, you should operate under the assumption that it’s going to be removed (or access will be removed) and work toward getting the backpack xmog attained before SL releases.
If it does get taken away, you’ll have achieved your goal. If it doesn’t get removed, you won’t have lost anything anyway.
I say just get it while you can just in case they remove it. I think it’s stupid for non challenging content like the wod ring, mop cloak, certain mogs from prepatches etc.
I get challenge modes to an extent as they require work and knowing your class, but timed events and removing content in general sucks.
It’s used to leverage the fear of missing out to get you to consume content you otherwise might not. Just like the salesman offering you a one-time, limited offer.
