OP isn’t referencing bugs, they are referencing the huge design flaws pointed out during BFA beta that was ignored until we were told that it was too late to make any huge changes.
Actually there were a lot of issues brought up about class play and azerite gear in the beta general forums for Legion and BfA . No one really brought up bugs in those forums because bugs had their own forum .
If Blizz doesn’t care if players have issues with systems and only cares about bugs why even bother with a (expac) beta general forum.
To be fair, TBCs beta was extremely good. Devs were actually in-world and talked to players. I remember running Ramparts several times with Tigole and another dev. Both had a specific tag on their names to show that they were legit.
This.
SL has been in development, prolly since before BfA launched. By the time we see anything in an alpha or beta everything is set in stone and it’s too late for major changes. We’re just debuggers and stress testers by that point.
If they actually listened and made the changes people want they would have to delay the game and they can’t do that anymore. WoW won’t survive another 18 month content drought. It’s going to be lucky if it survives if SL takes more than 6-8 months at most. A year+ and it’s as good as dead.
Some how beta testing has become pre order previews instead of real player testing and feedback.
Its seemed the last few goes the beta is more for advertising on things like youtube and twitch then actually bug testing. Maybe it’s just me I dont know.
i have PTR tested before (never beta) and honestly I got the impression they just don’t check those forums much. I did however get a direct response to my thread once and submitted the proper screenshot and it got fixed instantly. was kind of cool but that issue had probably been active at least 2 weeks before it was seen and instantly fixed.
No, no. After release they also told you complaining wasn’t helpful, you need to provide clear and constructive feedback, while they continued to ignore every. single. thing. you and your peers said in alpha/beta.
Worse thing ever would be listening to forum posters.
They should just get numbers and feedback from actual gameplay.
ALL that is bad in this game had been caused by collateral or direct influence of forum post demands.
With bfa I would ageee with you as for legion while yes the normal rational player noticed early the problem with lego’s every time we spoke out about it we got swarmed with “you just dont want the casual player to have oranges” and “elitist raider scum” ect ect sadly in this case I think blizzard did listen and gave in
They’ll talk to Wowhead execs or something. Beta testers don’t mean anything to them.
It’s not about communication at this point.
Their development has become so darn rigid, even if something is wrong, broken, not working properly, or just plain not any darn fun they don’t have any time to make necessary changes before release.
Communication isn’t the half of it. It took them over 5 months to make any significant changes to the Azerite systems post launch. This was after it launched in a clearly unacceptable state. The beta was filled with copious amount of feedback regarding how bad the Azerite system was. A heck of a lot of the feedback was well put, clear, and easy to understand.
The concensus among players was there in beta; This system isn’t going to work.
Regardless it launched, as is. And even if they worked to correct it at a later date, damage is done. These “We’ll release it and fix it later” moments by the Dev Team are getting very stale. This same situation is repeating itself too often.
/cries in BfA shaman and shadow priest “revamps”
Also, don’t release it until it is finished. And sim dps and healing and use that as a starting point to balance. Balance single target cleave and aoe damage. Use the sim programs your community provides for free.
The humblest of brags.
But also remember that beta testers aren’t game developers, nor are they particularly representative of the player base as a whole.
Beta testing is meant to generate feedback, but that feedback isn’t gospel; it’s just a small, non-randomized group of players saying what they do and don’t like. That’s information, but it’s very weak data.
I’m sure that it feels like GD complaining about the same things you complained about in the beta is reaffirming, but realize that it’s replicating the same problem on a slightly larger scale: a small, self-selecting group of people complaining on a forum where complaints are affirmed and any positive posts are attacked.
Just some food for thought.
I mean if this is what a experienced developer comes up with when it comes with on game design maybe its time to turn to joe blow?
Don’t hold your breath over it…
If they ignore good feedback, even glitch/bug feedback handed to them on a plate on beta testing forums why would they do something like this?
They really need to do a much better job with SLs. WoW is probably on shaky ground with many of it’s core players at this point. After BFA type of expansion would be a massive mistake. And that is coming from someone who generally enjoyed BFA.
It’s kind of funny I remember Ion saying in a Legion Q&A that they didn’t care about details but wanted players to say how they feel about certain things in game.
I know they have said both tell us how you feel and give us details. I think they flip flop between the 2 just so they can avoid acknowledging player concerns.
Beta Testers are basically Product Market Testers.
Now not every bit of tester feed back may be good but quite a bit is and when multiple people are giving similar feed back on the same issue , well maybe it’s time to listen.
Granted those few people don’t represent the entire player base but those people who got in and got to test the game are bringing up issues so that they can be fixed before the general player base has to deal with them.
