Please don't go for BC and WOTLK Blizzard

I’m not certain of that.

And Classic should always stay Classic and available as that.
Just as they could offer BC they could offer something else with a transfer.
This is all this is about more or less.

I am certain.

And I do not trust Blizzard not to screw post-Naxx up in the name of saving money. Hell, they’re ALREADY not throwing much at the project.

Just go through the phases and put it into permanent maintenance mode. The people who like the game will stick around no matter what.

No one can be certain. That’s fact. Unless you’re the first person to reliably see the future. Which I honestly doubt.

Yes right now they don’t seem to invest as much as I’d like them to… or you do for that matter. This doesn’t mean that this couldn’t change fundamentally if Classic makes them a lot of money.

Which is the condition anyway.

Here’s the rub, though – they DON’T expect Classic to make a lot of money. Hell, the whole reason layering exists is because they’re trying to put up as few realms as possible and they don’t expect roughly 60% of the players at launch to stick around.

Not to mention it’s tied to the Retail sub for a reason – it’s a safety net. Whether we like Retail or not, it’s not going anywhere and continues to make Blizzard a lot of money.

As for reliably seeing the future, back during the flight bait-and-switch of WoD I accurately predicted months in advance that Blizzard was going to announce flight’s outright removal from all content going forward. People just like you called me crazy and delusional.

Yeah, whatever – they walked that decision back pretty soon after due to the forums imploding after the announcement. But I was still right.

And they’ve shown NO signs of ever actually learning their lessons.

I disagree here to an extent. Recently Ion has stated that the game has gone too far in the direction it has been going over the last few years.

That being said, now it’s time for them to put their money where their mouth is and deliver something more positive in the next expansion.

The condition is that it saves its IP. J Brack said hes ok if only tens of people play classic. This isn’t a project hoping for a windfall. The amount of classic players returning is a side benefit for sure but not the aim. Laeric is right that the current dev team likely wouldn’t be able to get that classic feel back in future projects.

I know, doesn’t mean that that’s whats going to happen.
Time will tell. And all I do here is asking them to take that time before making a decision on how and if to expand upon Classic.

Yeh, that’s kinda true and not true at the same time cause Classic is coming after all.
Blizzard is in a kinda desperate situation right now.
Literally every of their games is kinda tanking, one worse than the other.
Classic could help them out and maybe change them for the better.

It’s a slim hope… but hope dies last as we all know.

Tldr but if classic goes well im sure they are going to do bc and wotlk server.

I’ll take some warts with those reloaded games, thanks.

Lots of people have unfinished business with the Lich King :stuck_out_tongue:

And that business could be finished with Classic design pillars in the background.
Not flying to the raid on a store mount.

In my experience, hope actually dies first.

That wouldn’t be classic WOTLK then though.

You can finish that business on live.

You can’t play through Vanilla’s world content anymore on live.

You can’t do it at the difficulty it was when WOTLK was live though. You couldn’t solo LK back then.

Im ok with waiting 2 years after classic goes live for them to release a WOTLK server. Im not asking for anything to be changed in classic, Im not trying to ruin your experience just to self serve my own, if it came across that way.

You get what you want, but you don’t want people to get what they want?. Good luck with that.

Nobody with any sense trusts Blizzard not to screw up and remove what we want when they give you what you want.

I mean you can be paranoid all you want, thats a you deal.

It’s not paranoid when it’s backed up by the company’s past ten-plus years of doing things very much akin to that.

And that’s exactly the point.
Because Wotlk – and to a certain degree BC – had big flaws that shouldn’t be redone in my opinion.
