I like the Blizzard Launcher. I like battle.net IDs. I like the way things are in terms of accounts and log in. I gave my Microsoft account away to a friend because someone bought me an X-Box One X, I hated it, and I regifted it to someone else. I don’t want to reclaim that account, nor do I want to make a new email address.
To whomever it concerns, please leave WoW’s log in process as-is. Changing it up will likely cause me numerous issues, and if that’s the case, I’m sure the same is true for many others.
Microsoft has password issues. At least for me. lol
I changed it about 2 years ago. They won’t accept it. So, I contact them, they say I have it correct, it matches. But it won’t work. I get the message it’s not correct.
So upon advice from Microsoft tech support, I changed it again. Won’t accept either of them, nor the original… So, worked with Microsoft, changed it again. Same thing.
I give up. Microsoft doesn’t like me! sniff lol
Just for clarification, yes I did the temp password it didn’t like that either - guys you sent this to me, duh. 2 different computers. sigh
tbh I can see the potential of it becoming a requirement. Microsoft can get the most out of WoW if they include it in their gamepass. That way having the gamepass gives you access to WoW and all their other games. It’s the smart business play here if they are wanting to create a platform like that.
my Hotmail address was created last century, and remains in use (despite going gmail in 2004). unlike my AOL and Yahoo emails from that era that i lapsed in maintaining
Unless you want to play Activision Blizzard games on game pass, you won’t need a Microsoft account.
Nothing will be changing on the Blizzard side of things when the transition occurs sometime in the fiscal year 2023 (which officially starts in 5 months time). You’ll still log in with your Blizzard account, you’ll still have your B.Tag and R.ID systems in place.
I am using my Gmail to sign into Microsoft stuff, confirmed from Microsoft that this is allowed and is my default details on my Microsoft store and when I sign in to my Microsoft account online, all @gmail.com.
If anything changes we are talking years down the road. Nothing that’s going to happen as soon as the deal closes.
Personally I don’t care if it does or not. I’m sure some will quit over it.limr if it gets added to game pass or something but I’ll still play mainly I don’t let things like that affect whether I’ll play or not.
I doubt it will change, why tinker with something that works fine. If they created some extra version of WoW to operate on the XBox it would be an entirely separate game account and would be available through the XBox pass.
You will probably have to. Just look at Minecraft, they had us migrate accounts to a microsoft account to log into MC for the future. Also what’s wrong with a MS account?
This make anybody else think of Steam? You buy a game, download it, and then they want you to download a new launcher and register with the publisher. Pisses me off and I just get a refund. Don’t need 40 launchers and tons of login info to keep track of.
It’s not a big deal, when you can have one platform for tons of games. And most of my steam games have no launcher as well. Your just making it sound worse then it really is. That being said, its also a game designer thing. If devs have a custom designer like for ESO on steam, its understandable.
For the most part it’s the AAA studios that want you to have one. I’m locked out of a few games on my steam account because my email changed and can’t login Ubisoft anymore. So I just refund them now
