Seriously just don’t. Think about it, BFA got launched with specs that weren’t even worked on in pre patch like all the other classes and specs. On top of that they then launched a raid tier without fixing specs that were severely lacking and then only implemented fixes at the very tail end of the raid tier.
So we had ~4+ months of waiting for fixes. If we get another class in the game, even if it only has 2 specs, that’s still more work for the class design team that has proven they can’t balance and handle what we have now.
I mean if this is the route we’re gonna go I may as well be playing League of Legends.

Why not add it and then you just not play it.

i think tinkers would be awesome cool if they were done right. it is always nice to have more choices, assuming they can actually be balanced (this is my only concern)
the more the merrier as long as it doesn’t hurt another class, I say

K but it’s not about me liking or not liking the class

I think we’re overdue for another healing class, and I would also really really like for Blizzard to introduce a ranged tank class. It just so happens that a Tinker class could easily cover both these bases. But if you have another idea, I’m willing to listen. I mean, other than the “Please, no more classes” idea.

I want to like it as well and I will most likely love it. But like you said I don’t want other specs and classes I play to suffer because Blizz didn’t have the time to get to them before a deadline. Which has already happened.

That’s not the point yo
The point OP is making is that class design and class balance has been abysmal and it might be better for Blizz to focus on getting all of the current classes to a really good spot next expac instead of diverting those resources to an entirely new class that then adds to the balancing issue
And…I find it hard to disagree with that

Pretty much this. My guess is they just read the title.

I don’t even believe Blizzard not adding them would make the balancing of classes any better.

Each Class has it’s own team that works on that class, which is then itself overseen by a larger team. So the Rogue Team works on Rogues, the Shaman Team works on Shaman, so on and so forth.
This isn’t an issue of having to divert resources; it’s an issue of experience and talent. Adding another class to the game would not divert resources from other classes.

I mean, I’m not necessarily disagreeing that class balance needs to be a focus, but let’s be honest here. This game has been around for over a decade and it’s still a thing that hasn’t been worked out to anybody’s satisfaction. Every single expansion … even most every single patch, both major and minor, has been some kind of change to class balance and/or design, from minor tweaks to major overhauls.
And some people will love it, and some people will hate it. Both internally with Blizzard devs, and externally with the players. And it will continue to happen continue to happen until the day Blizzard stops development of the game altogether.
So no, I really don’t want new classes to stop being thrown into the mix for the sake of trying to make it to the end of an ever moving goal post, because then we will never get any new classes. In practice, Blizzard already does not release a new class every major expansion - something most other MMOs do. I really don’t want it to be more infrequent than it already is.

Sounds like they need a new shaman team then, because Shamans were one of the classes left out in prepatch.

But those employees have to come from somewhere
With all the talk of cost cutting you really don’t see the potential for the dev teams of other classes to be cannibalized to help form said new class team?

Like I said, it’s a matter of talent and experience. The folks doing Battle for Azeroth are not all grizzled veterans anymore. So there are going to be a lot of growing pains.
But they are certainly better than these 5% “buff” fixes we’ve been getting.

I think that what he means is:
Before adding any other class, fix the rest that need fixin’.
You can spend resources on adding a new class but not spend them in actually balancing the specs/classes the game has?
I wouldn’t mind them if some classes/specs weren’t useless

I don’t think cannibalized. But if they have to bring on a new team for Tinker, that will cost money. Why not spend that money on better teams, on people more experienced for already existing classes?
Says the Demon Hunter.
The problem is not loving/hating, the problem is the performance of the class. Liking it or not is subjective, numbers are not.
They certainly could, but it wouldn’t change the fact that each class has a Team dedicated to it, with an oversight team. I understand what you’re saying, I do. I don’t think it’s a good direction for Blizzard to be heading, yet I don’t agree with the idea that just because they could merge current teams into multiple class teams means that we shouldn’t work on new ideas and implementations of classes.
Classes have never been balanced or function to a degree that all of the WoW player base can agree on. Halting production to try and fix something that hasn’t been fixed in over fourteen years just seems… I don’t know? Unnecessary?
