Please Don’t Strip Away the Quiet Joy — Pet Battles Still Matter

Dear Blizzard Team,

I’m writing not just as a player, but as someone who found peace, rhythm, and quiet joy in the pet battle system. With Midnight, I see that wild pets are now “click to collect,” and the battle system has been removed from new content. I understand the need to streamline — but this feels like a cut, not a refinement.

Pet battles weren’t just mechanics. They were:

A gentle way to level alts, especially for those of us who prefer solo play.

A daily ritual — cozy, strategic, and satisfying.

A whole community, still thriving. Xu-Fu’s Pet Guides just reworked an entire section for MoP Classic, proving that this system still matters

You didn’t need to scrap it. You could’ve:

Made all new pets rare (blue) by default.

Phased out lower-quality pets quietly.

Let pets level passively through exploration or account-wide progression.

Instead, it feels like a system was amputated to speed up expansion churn. And in doing so, you’ve cut off a source of joy for many players — especially those who found comfort in the quiet corners of Azeroth.

Please reconsider. Pet battles deserve better than silent removal. They deserve evolution, not extinction.

With care and hope, A longtime player who still treasures the little things
