Please do something about Yazma

Pugging this boss is a nightmare. Maybe it’s because the rest of the key feels relatively easy, but Yazma has been the most frustrating boss all season. It’s easy to just blast through the entire dungeon and then get the last boss and completely brick the key because someone lags, tank doesn’t move the boss enough, or someone getting one shot. Its not fun to run a dungeon for 30 minutes, get to the last boss, and then wipe over and over until people leave.

you think it’s more fun when the key is decided in the first 5 minutes and then you just go through the motions for 25 minutes after that? that sounds boring.

you’re right, definitely more fun when you’re doing well and then suddenly fail the key because a boss is overtuned to compensate for the rest of the dungeon being undertuned.

Yazma needs to be tuned down a bit, everything else needs to be tuned up a bit.

Yazma spiders are too much. I was with a group that worked well enough together to one shot every boss and not wipe through the dungeon.
The dps was low, there were a few deaths. But it was a solid tank. We tried the final boss, yazma, 6 times. 2 times, we were hitting all the mechanics perfectly. However, because of low dps, we were overwhelmed by spiders. There were soooo many that mechanics meant nothing.

It definitely needs to be addressed. I think cutting the spider spawn rate by 30 to 50% would work.

I have been a part of more bricks because of yazma than any other dungeon or boss.

On tyran weeks I simply do not do Atal.

Just nope.

The more there are the more the mechanics matter.

She’s a slog though regardless, they could probably stand to lower her HP some.

Spiders are the least-impactful mechanic on Yazma and if you get overwhelmed by spiders, that’s a player issue not a balance issue.

The things that are dangerous and aren’t because of mechanical failure are:
Wracking Pain. Making it uninterruptable was a mistake because it does a LOT of damage in a fight with a rather high amount of movement. Some classes are better suited to handle it than others (warriors with spell reflect, for example)
Soulrend. Considering it nukes everyone but the tank on cast, if people aren’t topped off there’s a good chance someone is dead and if anyone dies from it, it triggers the group-wide DoT which will guarantee everyone else dies.
Spiders are just a “don’t touch” mechanic and you can have 80+ spiders in that room and still not get hit by them.

its a pretty fun one tho. lets be real here.
i eat many spiders

In very high keys it’s like russian roulette depending on your comp. If Yazma casts wracking pain the squishy shamy who just used his astral shift to save himself geting 1 shot by the soul rend, it’s pretty much guaranteed death.

Or it can go on the rogue who can just cloak of shadows it off, and thus probably saving the fight and thus the key.

I’ve done this fight a few times at very high keys now and unless you have all giga tanky classes it literally is like a russian roulette game.

Yeah. I love getting it when Renewing Blaze is ready. I hate getting it when it isn’t. All the russian roulette mechanics like Wracking Pain and Flame Shock seem to be just a few reasons as to why MW is so strong currently, given the number of externals it can shove into someone.

It’s kind of the same thing as Blight of Galakrond, if you can have the orb target a hunter or a night elf, you can completely delete a mechanic from the fight, or with Soul Thorns from the golem on a Mage.

That’s generally what I hear too.

Rezan does like zero dmg to the party, it’s all the tank.

Totem boss I don’t know how bad the rot dmg is but as a Tank it’s pretty so-so. I just slowly move around and interrupt a lot.

Priestess can fricken hurt me as tank from time to time but it’s still a very basic fight I guess. Kill add, stand in bad before cast.

Yazma is probably one of the easiest for the tank in that all I’m doing is moving around. The hardest thing is not having the party running around aimlessly in a pug after I told them to stack tight while I go clockwise.
Yaz is absolutely brutal for anyone not a tank though.

She gets empowered with a dispellable buff when she spawns the gold add that tries to eat pools of blood, and it makes her autos chunk. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

Huh, learned something.

I think I knew it was related to or timed around the add, but I had no idea it was dispellable (just any purge I guess?)

Usually I just audibly oof and start chugging.

Ye, any magic dispel yoinks it off. Can usually just use a minor/moderate defensive, though. :dracthyr_nod:

Yaz is a personal responsibility boss. The tank’s utmost responsibility is to kite her. DPS need to watch their feet at all times. The healer needs to actually see when Wracking goes out and plan accordingly, although the person with Wracking should pop defensive.

Other than that, it’s a pretty easy fight for me as heals. Shammy can slow/stun/knock the adds everytime and R Druid can root them or Ursol.

Ad is pretty ez up until yazma, she is not that bad if the group is organized. Spiders are one thing but the souls is what mainly brick keys.

Eh.

I feel like tank sets tempo.

Can easily get the group killed with bad kiting, or, like, just being out of sync with where the group wants to drop stuff.

Like I said, personal responsibility, that’s the tank’s. The tank can kite really well but you can still die to people not stacking the adds up. Stacking the adds up is the main group thing.

Step 1, start yazma off where she spawns if you want. Not a big deal.
Step 2, everyone stacks with tank on boss.
Step 3, when echos drop (tiny purple swirls on the floor), tank kites boss away to edge of room in a direction.
Step 3: when Soulrend goes out, all DPS and healer pick a spot to run to (using ping system nice for this), away from the boss and not over or near spiders/puddles. Kill Soulspawns and restack on boss w/ tank. Sometimes you need to drop Soulrend AHEAD of the tank, once souls are killed tank and move boss.

That’s literally it. You always stack when possible and move around in a giant circle hugging edge of room. That’s it. Usually tanks panic and don’t trust the process by kiting long distances, or the DPS/Healer are playing bad and not stacking tight to drop Echoes of Shadra so the tank has room to kite. If you just simply move in big circles you NEVER have to pop the spiders and you will never get hit. The spiders will all stack and follow you around the big circle kind of like units in StarCraft. Very easy to avoid at that point.

This method takes little coordination outside of a quick ping. No voice, no nothing needed. Works every time.

TIPS

  1. DPS save personals for Soulrend. It’ll start to 1 shot you eventually. Always have a personal up for it.
  2. If you really screw up have an immunity class pop some spiders to get room or save the group. (OR pop spiders all over the middle if possible so tehy stay outa the way.
  3. Healers focus the boss and pre-heal/shield Wracking Pain targets. At some point DPS might need personals for this too.

Pretty much the entire fight.
