Loving what I’ve heard about 11.1 MM. DO eliminate MMs regular pet as an option at the minimum. But also address concerns MM players have for wanting a pet to tank for them. Not sure what the fix for those players would be short of using BM or Survival if they need to have a pet to tank for them while doing open world content or other areas they want to have one. For my use, pvp, what I’ve seen proposed with the eagle looks perfect for me.
Or, how about we don’t do these rushed ideas, push it back to Midnight to have greater exploration and feedback into them and come up with a meaningful fix that allows players who have for the past 20 years had the same pets, have grown attached to them, and have enjoyed being MM Hunters without the “Lone Wolf” Talent choice node still have their loved and cherished pets without having to be relegated to playing a spec they may not want to play, but now must if they wish to retain those pets.
Waiting still leaves other players dissatisfied. No matter what change comes, no change can please everyone, but having all the utility a better lust, a better MS, and no pet to heal, babysit, or resurrect sounds like a win win win win win win. The downsides are, maybe they dont add defensives to make up for losing the pet to tank or a pet/eagle choice node. For this they could please everyone in theory I suppose. Not as it is proposed, but with a few additions.
These changes would get you the things that you say you want, without forcing the entire “no pets” overhaul on everyone:
- Separate Bloodlust ability (This is already included in the patch notes)
- Turn Lone Wolf into a choice node talent for which set of abilities are active when you do not have an active pet, in addition to the +5% damage (This choice is similar to one that’s in the patch notes)
- Passive Mortal Strike effect on Aimed Shot (This is already included in the patch notes)
None of those require the no pets, only eagle overhaul. The notion that it’s an all-or-nothing choice is a false one.
As I said in a general topic my pet is a tank it lets me be a marksman. Without it I will be in melee range all the time, like classic, I hated that. Suv is that already. Bm is pet centric spec. Let me have a tank pet so I can be a marksman.
Because, changing how the game works for everyone is far easier than just not using pets on your MM, lovely sentiment. Nope.
The solution is just do everything they plan to do but keep basic pets with growl, bite, claw, dash and thats all they do and then give a 5% to 10% damage penalty for having it out.
The end result in raids, dungeons, M+, etc is identical to removing pets as pets will never be seen due to the DPS loss. In open world we keep our pet tank.
Thats all the had to do - take everything off the pet, let us set ferocity/tenacity/etc whether it be like a stance or whatever and then just let us keep our basic pets.
Which by the way is what Affliction and Destruction warlocks have. It can be done.
the reason I keep my pet out in dungeons is if the tank is about to die I can use pet taunt to give the healer a chance to heal the tank. Pet death does not lead to a wipe tank death does
I was kind of joking but I recommending they do a reverse Uno on lone wolf for MM in the feedback thread.
What if they added a talent to 11.1 MM that was the inverse or “Lone wolf” such that you can summon your pet but reduces the damage of some of the MM abilities.
The “reasoning/fantasy” would be that have a pet could throw off your aim. But having a faithful companion is worth it.
No, do not proceed as planned, its a bad change that is only tailored for the M+ whiners FOTM who are not going to care regardless, the game should not be decided by the smallest community.
You already have that option in live
True. Keep regular pet as an option, could become an option. Having the eagle perform intimidation without line of sight or cc or death constraints is not yet an option on live. Just opting do not have a current bet is currently a massive loss in utility, but 11.1 would have that will be fixed.
