I think this is their “new” gimmick and we’ll see some variation of this in many expansions to come or at least until they find the next one. Hell, Legion had the AP grind and essence grind as well.

Mmorpg gameplay: based around grinding.
Players who willingly download and play an mmorpg: “we don’t want grinding.”

I don’t mind grinding some some extent though, but the Artifact Grind, worse grinding ever invented in the history of any MMORPG.

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

No AP or similar grind, nothing for the hardcore players to aim for when playing 12 hours a day.

But if there’s a grind, it’s gotta be balanced so those hardcore players don’t get too far ahead.

And if there’s nothing incremental to work towards in regards to AP, well now WQs are irrelevant, and half the other content.

Yeah screw ap grinds, very alt unfriendly. Just focus on gear progression more or something.
