Please Delay Expansion Release

This gets repeated sooo much here, but it’s just some sort of deflection. Nobody expects a bug free release and minor bugs aren’t even the problem. The problem is that the quality of the game went down drastically with DF. We’ve always had bugs, but DF wins the crown. Aside from the ruined release night there was so much unfinished stuff and many bugs, a lot of them major bugs… several of them led to heavy exploits. I made a list once and compared it to the small few and mostly unnoticable problems SL had at release for example.
DF’s beta was also too short… heck, Priests literally got told “We don’t have time to finish your class, we’ll do it later”.
And the trend continued with DF’s patch and event content, where almost every release wasn’t properly developed and saw small reworks or it was completely bugged for days, like 10.1.

Several campaign quests have been bugged according to Beta forums, so I wouldn’t be surprised if one those errors manages to find its way to live. Plus the ongoing problems with Delves, they will 100% be buggy one way or another at release. Not to mention that Priests will have a hard time completing these on higher levels, because Disc/Holy have no interrupt and the one from Shadow has a way too long CD and there are mobs that must be interrupted. This issue has been ignored the whole beta.

Don’t worry, the 3-day-early beta testers will endure the worst of it for us.

And yet the complaints I see constantly are bugs this, and bugs that. That the ‘bugs should all be fixed’ before the patch or expansion drops etc etc.

Same song and dance every single patch, every single expansion. I’ve been here on these forums since 2004, I’ve seen it played out time and time again.

Hard disagree, DF is the best the game has ever been, and that can easily be shown by the growing and stable population. Estimated to be at 7.25m at this point.

Not by a long shot. Clearly you haven’t been around that long, because past expansions and patches have released in a far worse state and again, the same type of stuff was said about past expansions and pre-patches as well. Take this Reddit post for example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/jcqifz/this_is_the_most_buggy_and_broken_patch_theyve/

The levelling experience is an absolute mess, mobs and bosses randomly doing 10x regular dmg on some abilities and deleting the tank or half the group. Legion dungeons feel harder than Mythic 15’s. The level acquisition of abilities on a lot of specs is really weird, sometimes you get abilities that interact with other abilities that you wont even get for another 20 levels. Disc priest just straight up has one of it’s core mechanics not working. Exiles Reach pop up boxes not making any sense and getting stuck on your screen until you reach Stormwind. I could go on.

There is absolutely no way anyone at Blizzard did any internal testing for the new levelling experience. You don’t step into a Legion dungeon and say “this is fine”. I could have worked for Blizzard for literally 20 minutes as QA tester and told them the patch wasn’t ready for release.

This pre-patch is gonna take weeks to get into a reasonable shape, let alone working on Shadowlands at the same time. They should have just delayed the whole thing until next summer, there is clearly a LOT of work that needs to be done. We are playing alpha right now on live.

TL;DR - don’t get your hopes up for a Shadowlands release date anytime soon, game is broken.

That was 4 years ago.

And I am sure if I wanted to I could find similar posts and the like for every other expansion that has ever released for WoW.

If you start with this, then no it isn’t. But whatever you are gonna say is immediately also going to be completely irrelevant and disqualified as a genuine grievance or opinion because you already loaded into it an assumption and presumption.

Troll post.

OP. The closest you’re going to get to a delay is if you delay logging in until you feel the game is at your level of playability.

blizzard dont listen to this sunflower…work those devs harder and get me what i paid for on the date it was promised with all bugs fixed

I’m not talking about the state of the content when it’s fixed or how the content is designed. That’s what you are talking about. I’m only talking about QA related problems. On top of that it’s pretty useless to discuss player population, because during the last years we’ve gained several legacy game modes that brought back a lot of players. Nothing of that is indicating how many players Retail WoW have right now.

There are and were far more problems with DF and TWW prepatch than some botched scaling in some leveling brackets. This reddit post is much more of an example that there wasn’t much wrong with it, that’s just a person being overly dramatic because some leveling dungeons are too hard.
As I said, I did a list once in this forum as a direct comparison what kind of things went wrong with last expansion releases and the list of DF release (prepatch was just a tiny part of the list) was huge. I didn’t even put extremely minor stuff on the list, like visual glitches or some phasing issue with random NPCs in low level zones.

That’s nonsense.

Again, I have seen this song and dance year, after year. Every single patch, every single expansion. There’s always people complaining about bugs, always people claiming the game is in the ‘worst state it’s ever been’, creating so much hyperbole that it becomes almost impossible to figure out which is the truth and which are just lies.

Are there bugs with this patch? Yes, yes there are. Just like with every other patch. Are the bugs getting fixed? Yes.

So does the expansion need to be delayed? No.

By the way, there hasn’t been a single WoW expansion that people haven’t demanded be delayed either.

Even the great expansions like WotLK, MoP, Legion and yes, even Dragonflight. There were demands by players to delay ALL of them. Did Blizzard delay them? No. To my knowledge Blizzard has only delayed two WoW expansions. The Burning Crusade and Shadowlands.

This is why the pre-patch event is named Radiant Echoes. The memories of this experience will echo in all our minds until the end of wow.

They havent addressed most of the cata classic bugs, we still have bugs from wotlk classic that were never addressed. Why would they address retail expac issues?

those are now features.

It is.

Then we’re good to go.

You can choose not to play all on your own; you don’t need daddy Blizz to make that decision for you.

I’d personally have liked for it to be released on the 20th Anniversary date. I think it needed that sort of time, but that’s not how AAA gaming operates these days. Expect everything to be pushed out early and fixed on the live version.

nah, I’m ok with them fixing things as we go. Enough will work fine to be fun.

Would the expansion be better off with a delay? Probably. But Blizzard would also have to deal with a VERY loud, VERY obnoxious virtual mob of angry customers here, on Twitter, and everywhere else on the internet. I doubt they’re gonna be willing to put up with that unless a delay is absolutely necessary due to a massive game breaking problem.

Its not. I am in the beta. Most of the Bugs current in Live are fixed in the newest Beta Build. Including the Rogue class hall Bug. The Prepatch is 0 indication sadly.

Blizz is just taking the lazy approach to Bug Fixes. Instead of deploying 50 bug Fix patches they are clearly just waiting to drop the expansion Build which also fixes most of the bugs. They treating it more like one stop shop. Its Lazier and Cheaper on man hours to deploy fixes.

Does this approach leave the players worried about the expansion? Yes 100% Does Blizz care? No because they know when the expansion drops these bugs we are complaining about will be fixed. Like I said its lazy and cheap.

The pain train stops for no one!
