Just a minor thing, but it’s something I’ve consistently hated since it was first implemented. I get that it’s technically much more impressive, but it just looks weird to me, and it feels weird to be unintentionally just staring at someone or something.
stares uncomfortably
I’ll admit, there’ve been times that I’ve been bored enough to pop just in and out of range for an NPC to swivel their head back and forth to look at me. My goals are beyond your understanding.
I totally wouldn’t just remove it or anything, just bury an option somewhere in the game’s settings to turn it off. Maybe even just turning it off for yourself?
It always looks super weird when I’m in combat-stance, and my character’s head is tilted in some awkward direction.
unclick the target if it bothers you that much.
The only thing tat could make this better would be if their facial expression started to sour from doing it too much. Similar to how if you constantly click an NPC they get frustrated and vaguely threaten you.
Oh man, you would love watching VSauce on Youtube then. Dude usually ends his videos where he blows your mind with a 5+ second stare directly into your soul.
As a German I love staring at people.
This is something I check out every time I hear a new NPC voice ingame. I just have to hear those irritated lines! I’m glad this is one tradition that they’ve more or less kept up with after all this time.
My character still locks onto things and follows them.
You do realize that if you stop targeting them you stop looking at them yes?
By keeping your target on them then you are pretty much intentionally staring at them.
You can have an NPC walk by your character, untargeted and your character will literally look up at it and it’s head will follow them briefly. I’ve had this happen often in Valdrakken.
So the whole “don’t target them” it isn’t always about having an NPC targeted.
Edit:
I don’t mind it all.
